I was wondering if such moves are an attempt to "protect the point". Calgary is not so far up on Edmonton that it is inconceivable that they get caught so perhaps he just wanted to make sure they ensure the point
If it is, it's another example of Playfair's stupidity. What the team needs is wins on the road, not more loser points. It'll do wonders for confidence.

Exactly but I don't think you can blame the team's system.
Yes, I can. Look at the shots on goal against on the road. The system is failing.

        • Depends on the team. The Flames play better at home, but suck on the road. The Leafs do better out of the limelight of the ACC

                  • boys, go out today and get a Stan Rogers CD. He's one of the greatest Canadian song writers.

Only Stan would write so beautifully about the Northwest passage:

Ah, For just one time I would take the Northwest passage,
To find the hand of Franklin reaching for the Beaufort Sea,
Tracing one warm line through a land so wide and savage,
And make a Northwest passage to the sea.

Westward from the Davis Strait 'tis there 'twas said to lie,
The sea route to the Orient for which so many died,
Seeking gold and glory, leaving weathered, broken bones,
And a long forgotten, lonely cairn of stones.

Three centuries thereafter I take passage overland,
In the footsteps of brave Kelso, where his 'sea of flowers' began,
Watching cities rise before me, then behind me sink again,
This tardiest explorer, driving hard across the plain.

Ah, For just one time I would take the Northwest passage,
To find the hand of Franklin reaching for the Beaufort Sea,
Tracing one warm line through a land so wide and savage,
And make a Northwest passage to the sea.

And through the night, behind the wheel, the mileage clicking West,
I think upon McKenzie, David Thompson and the rest,
Who cracked the mountain ramparts and did show a path for me,
To race the roaring Fraser to the sea.

Ah, For just one time I would take the Northwest passage,
To find the hand of Franklin reaching for the Beaufort Sea,
Tracing one warm line through a land so wide and savage,
And make a Northwest passage to the sea.

How then am I so different from the first men through this way?
Like them I left a settled life, I threw it all away,
To seek the Northwest passage at the call of many men,
To find there but the road back home again.

Ah, For just one time I would take the Northwest passage,
To find the hand of Franklin reaching for the Beaufort Sea,
Tracing one warm line through a land so wide and savage,

But all I see is a team at hom,e playing the EXACT SAME SYSTEM as on the road but actually executing. They do seem to dig harder, hit harder, skate faster. THat, to me, is all about confidence and motivation ( for which the coach does have some responsibility) but isn't anything to do with their "system"

I would categorically deny having anything in common with any of the names parties and put you to the strictest proof.

                              • Concerning the "game of the year:"

I loved seeing Emery do his thing--that was highly entertaining. However, I have a tough time calling what Peters and Mair did "old time hockey." Neil's hit may have been borderline, but it qualifies as Ol' Time.

But mugging Dany Heatley from behind, and then punching Jason Spezza as he turtles? Ethical questions aside, that's just lame to watch.

If Saturday's gonna be another battle, I hope that they keep it among the grunts.
