    It's a done deal, Zopper.

FOXSports.com's Jay Glazer and the St. Paul Pioneer Press both report Mike Tomlin has officially agreed to become the Steelers' head coach.
Now four sources (FOXSports, the Pio Press, SI.com, and ESPN) believe Tomlin is the pick, while just one (the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review) thinks Russ Grimm is the Steelers' guy. Glazer and the Pioneer Press agree that the Steelers won't finalize a deal until Monday, as expected.

Jim Mora has a new job... as Secondary Coach for the Seahawks. Not Defensive Coordinator... no, Secondary Coach. Too funny.

NFL Networks just confirmed the Tomlin hiring in Pittsburgh. "Tomlin has agreed to be the next coach in Pittsburgh, and they expect to agree to terms by Monday."

          Bill Parcells Retires (again)

Bill Parcells retired from coaching Monday, leaving the Dallas Cowboys after four seasons and ending a stellar career that featured three Super Bowl appearances and two championships.

Who goes here? ESPN mentioned a few names, but nobody really knows... even Wade Phillips Apparently he (jones) really wants a 3-4 defense coach [Grimm anyone? ]

            From the official Cowboys statement

Parcells' legacy with the Cowboys can be framed this way: Instead of joining Tom Landry, Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer as coaches who led them to championships, he leaves lumped with Chan Gailey and Dave Campo.

I'm sensing a little animosity here....

Well, we'll see if he stays retired . If he does, he leaves as one of the best coaches in NFL history (even if his tenure in Dallas wasn't all that great) and I wish him well.

                OUCH!
From Peter King's MMQB "Ten Things I Think I Think"

                5. I think when Steve Sarkisian turns down your coaching job, and he's an assistant college coach, you're in big, big trouble. The Raiders have been embarrassed like never before. And believe me, they definitely wanted Sarkisian and were going to name him the coach. But he backed out last Friday, leaving the Raiders with the blackest eye they've ever had.
Maybe Davis should have kept Shell....

Of course he could ask him back. Again. "Hey, Art, about that firing? Just kidding! Ha ha. Ha. (ahem) So see you at work tomorrow? C'mon, don't make me beg. Please? Pretty please?"

No amount of humbling and embarrassment for Al Davis would, IMHO, be enough.

I don't think that was the official Cowboys statement, that was just a wire report by the NFL.com folks. Read the attribution

                          Is he coaching somewhere?

                          He left for KC, though.

                            I ask for forgiveness sir

Al Davis had a Yardon a Hard Long for Marcus Allen and for that, I detest Al Davis..

No forgiveness necessary. I can see how people don't like Davis. I'm neutral. I used to be something of a Raiders fan back in the day. If it wasn't the Dolphins winning the AFC, I wanted it to be the Raiders (also in part because my brother liked the Steelers). I remember Allen's amazing TD run against the Redskins.

But, hypothetically speaking, if Davis swallowed his pride and made up with Allen and hired him, wouldn't that mean he was a better person? How would you feel about him then?

I'm sort of amazed at how low the Raiders have sunk. And a bit annoyed that they prevented the Lions from being the worst team this year. I'd kinda have liked to have seen Millen screw up the #1 pick. Or if the pick wouldn't be a bust, he'd refuse to report and demand a trade. Something to really shake things up (not that anything would, short of an earthquake which swallowed up William Clay Ford and Millen). But I'd .

It would but then again would Allemn accept

I believe in my heart the bigger issue is can Al Davis be an Owner and allow the staff to coach and when a mistake is made not fear immediate reprisal?

It is going to take a lot of cleaning up in Los Angelas and a very strong and confidant coach to square the Raiders away
