    What about that Minnesota team?

    They looked sucky in Calgary-- they actually got pretty dominated. Then they turn around and win in Vancouver and Edmonton. with what looked to be very good efforts. There is now a little 3 point gap and for the first time in a while, the eighth-place team cannot lose that position in a single night


    Also Dallas must be starting to look over their shoulder a little. They looked very secure and still have a moderately comfortable gap on the 9th place Oil for the last playoff spot-- but they have also have fallen back from contention for higher seeds. Them continuing to fall is just about the only hope for there being more than 3 NW teams in the playoffs. I wouldn't count on it!!

      I think a big difference in Minny is the fact that Gaborik is not only back, but he's turning on the jets. He needed a few of those adjustment games, like the one in Calgary, before he got back into the swing of things. It should be interesting to see where he leads his team now... That is, if he doesn't get injured again right away, which is somewhat probable with that wonky groin of his.

        While Minnie is playing better...I think you need to take into account Vancouver and Edmonton didn't play as well as they should've to win.

          OH CANADA !!!!

          Three all Canadian matchups highlight a 14 game Saturday

          Obviously a lot of big matchups with almost all having playoff implications.


          Calgary-Edmonton is always particularly fun-- I can count on some pretty intense banter right here

                So Iginla didn't make the allstar team? (I presume this is due to injury)

                Phaneuf and Kipper did, though.

                  I thought the Oilers played fairly well except for a couple lapses. Unfortunately, Gaborik and Rolston were in position to take advantage of a couple of those lapses, while at the other end Fernadez played really well.

                    It's almost as if Minnesota played like they always do. Defensive hockey then taking advantage of stupid mistakes.

                      Funny that Hamrlik has been the Flames best d-man this season-- He doesn't have the big hits but he has scored some and he has consistently been very very good defensively
