  • Yeah, it's between $3.8 and $4 mil per year based on reaching incentives (if he doesn't, he gets $3.8, if he does, he gets the $4).

Depends if he can beat Auburn.

But this is what I don't get about this move. IMO he left MSU, because they were usually second banana to in-state rival Michigan. He went to LSU, where there's no in-state competition. Now he's going back to college, at Alabama, which is currently second banana to in-state rival Auburn.

      • What I want to know is the nature of his out clause.
        That will answer Drake's question.

This guy is the Larry Brown of college football.

        • Drake, I'm just curious as to how you would solve the Boise State problem. Why should the OSU-Florida winner have any more legitimate claim to the "mythical national championship" than BSU? If we truly want a champion, do we not need some form of playoff?

But historically, Alabama is the BIG school in the state and Auburn is the second banana.

We may be old enough to understand that, but high school kids? I think Auburn will loom larger as the current place to go.

                      • ND's offense has been sloppy. Haven't been too impressed with LSU's D.

ND's D is making Russell look like a Heisman candidate.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. I've laid out an idea here before for a relegation-system similar to European soccer leagues that would solve the problem, but it's about as likely to happen as your playoff idea.

The "problem" may solve itself, however. The only things keeping Boise State out of the title game is a lack of respect for them among poll voters and a weak schedule that hurts them in the computer rankings. A win like this is going to garner them a lot of respect with poll voters, which should give them a much better shot of reaching a high position in the polls in coming seasons. And a tougher non-conference schedule would help them in the computers. Not exactly an unsolvable issue...

                          • But next year they'll be playing the same conference and it won't matter. They need to enjoy this year.

                            • If they keep winning 10+ games a year and play well against decent non-conference and bowl opponents, they're going to build respect with pollsters. If they get smoked by Georgia again, on the other hand...
