I refuse to look at the resignation statement in detail just yet but I can tell you that it is a real classic in the self delusional stakes.
Gatland - absolutely. He laid the foundation for the current Ireland team and worked wonders with the hateful insects (Wasps for the uninitiated).
Mallet I am cooler on - not a huge fan of his Boks record and whilst he was very successful with Stade Francais that is qualifed by the fact that Paris are the richest club side in the world and live by cheque book rules.
I'd add Nigel Melville (although he has just joined the Eagles on a long deal) and Dean Richards (very good as long as someone gives him the players rather than asking him to sign any).
Outsiders include Richard Hill (of Bristol) or Dean Ryan of Gloucester (whom I do not like myself).
And here is a thought, we could always secure Graham Henry for after the RWC (whatever happens there I expect he will move on).
