  • I read that it wasn't a brilliant performance - but on the bright side the Aussies scored all the tries.

Ireland must fancy their chances come Sunday though...

Nothing from twickers yet. My fear is they are going to stick with him.

    • And they have. For the next two tests.

Great move - solve a problem by ignoring it.

      • They'll need time to look for a replacement, they'll have that after the last Autumn Test.

        • At least here Laporte says the team was bad.
« Il va falloir se bouger le cul. » said Julien Bonnaire, which is right and translates roughy as 'we must move our as**'.
Now Pelous i hurt and won't play the next match. Considering his performance, I can't be sad. He's not the player he used to be. A young Clermontois will come on the bench for him, Jacquet, who was captain of the French U21 team that won the U21 World Cup. Problem i heis trainer says he's not yet ready for international matches, and sending him against the Blacks may be risky. Ibanez is rumoured to take the captainship, what with Pelous and Thion being out. I think he's a better leader than Pelous, and he certainly doesn't get penalised as much.

No, playing the expedient game. He will obviously go after the Bok match. Turfing him now - in the middle of a series - isn't going to achieve anything over the next couple of matches. If anything, it would be even more disruptive.

I suspect they already have a replacement lined up. The team's performance, after all, hasn't come as a shock. There are contractual matters, et al, to sort out.

I actually - honestly - wouldn't have minded if Italy had won. I suppose Italy are my home team now. Old habits die hard, though.

He is also playing very well for Wasps this season. Sounds a good choice. No pressure – but the entire rest of the rugby world wants France to give the ABs pause for thought next weekend.

You are right that it would achieve nothing for the team – but on the flip side neither does he.

And sacking him now would certainly help my blood pressure. Never the less I can be patient another fortnight…

I suspect they already have a replacement lined up.
I suspect they may have a potentials list – but they will have nothing sorted beyond that. The arrogance and shambolic nature of the RFU precludes Thomas and Barron having done any more ground work towards a change (as both men gave the ****** their personal vote of confidence after the coaching cullings earlier in the year).

Tasty fixture with Argentina this weekend – how would you call that one?

                    • Apart from an almost-intercept due to some cr*p Wallaby passing, apparently Italy never looked like scoring a try. I suspect the Argies will match them up front and probably have the skills elsewhere to cross the line. It could boil down to discipline ... a word neither team, historically, has bothered to translate into their own language.

                      • I would expect Argentina to win. Then again, they aren't at their best when away from home. I'll make my call Italy.

                          Except against Havak's mob.

Yes, strangely enough, some etymologic dictionaries pretend this English word would come from latin via old French. These guys should look at rugby matches to understand that discipline cannot possibly be a latin word. It's probably derived from some unknown German root intead.

Ibanez will indeed be our captain. That's good news for me, as I think he should never have been dumped from that role.

Am I missing something? Did England lose to Argentina recently? Or was that cryptic reference to the Falklands?

                              • England have lost their last seven games including Argentina and have slipped below the Pumas in the world rankings.

Another loss makes it their worst run of results ever (the 71/72 side set the existing record as it came up against some very good comtemporary UK opposition - not an excuse this mob can use!).

And the coach still hasn't been sacked. Something that speaks volumes about the arrogance of the RFU.

Compare it with NZ - Mitchell loses one game and gets the boot. Robinson loses seven in a row and is then guaranteed another two chances to display his unusual coaching talents (the unusual part being the total lack of talent).

So I'm angry, depressed and resigned all at the same time - be grateful you are a kiwi fan.

One for Finbar - Marcus Trescothick. Is he the first cricketer to leave a tour twice because of clinical depression?

*edit* the ray of hope on the coaching question is the financial results released yesterday. Robinsons dire performance is hitting the bottom line badly. The RFU does love it's money so it is unlikely they can avoid sacking him for much longer.

Oh and with PA's regular League trolling it was nice to see them hammered by NZ and then their star player sent home for getting hammered in a very different way.
