what's your assessment on that count? I suppose the rooftop cheering by Iranians and by the exiles was because they can't wait to see more Iranian children murdered.Originally posted by Lorizael View PostI'm more concerned with whether the Iranian children he's murdering will be worse off.

Khamenei was old and expendable.Originally posted by The Mad Monk View PostBecause Putin wanted him to do a decapitation strike on their dear ally Iran?
Clearly, the Russians wanted him in there because he's a buffoon.
Also clearly, any control they had over him is gone.
Oil and gas prices up massively. ✅️
The US has lifted the oil embargoes on Russia. ✅️
Ukraine's supply of Patriots and THAADs choked off at source for the foreseeable future. ✅️
Which country in the world has benefitted the most from Trump's treacherous and illegal war on Iran...? ✅️

you're both right. Putin benefits short term but if the Israeli-US operation achieves regime change in Iran then Russia will long term lose a valued near ally.Originally posted by I AM MOBIUS View Post

I must say that it is high time something was done to try and end one of the worst regimes on the planet. Thousands of innocents dead over the decades at the Hans of this truly evil regime. Nearly five decades of “negotiations “ have done nothing to change their nature of murder and mayhem across the Middle East. Would I have been happier if Congress had declared war? Of course! But as Geronimo stated, there is much precedent for the President taking action without it.
Let’s all hope that our military has the skill to complete a task that really did need doing. If not, then is the world worse off by having Iran’s ability to export terror and threaten an entire region degraded?
You may not like Trump or even the USA, but surely you can’t support a regime of this type continuing?
Even a regime as bad as North Korea usually stays out of the terror business with their neighbors.
This is something long overdue. Do not be biased by the fact that Trump is doing it."I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you're not patriotic. We should stand up and say we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration." - Hillary Clinton, 2003

Our actions in 1953 to topple the secular democratic Iranian government and install the Shah as dictator lead to the revolution and thus this regime that came into power because of the revolution.Originally posted by PLATO View PostI must say that it is high time something was done to try and end one of the worst regimes on the planet. There's no reason to think blowing up some school girls is going to fix our mistake. Boots on the ground for decades will be required if there is to be actual regime change.
Iraq x2 is the best we can hope for. That was $trillions, killed a million people, empowered Al Qaeda, created ISIS and destabilized Syria. Also sent 5 million refugees to Europe which has lead to an increase in support for far right parties.
Most likely outcome is Afghanistan. 20 years, killed a bad guy, $trillions in debt, and the regime (or something worse) takes back over once we finally leave.

Already there is good reason to think that what regime change we've accomplished has been negative for Iran (above and beyond the loss of lives and infrastructure), and the world as a whole.
The Ayatollah we killed was willing to give up all enriched nuclear materials and allow inspections. The Ayatollah now is more set on developing nuclear weapons. Any successor (as well as any other leader who doesn't want to give up sovereignty to Israel/US worldwide) is going to logically reason that their only way to not be killed is to obtain nuclear weapons.
