After Trump now this. We need an inquiry about the role of fluffy hair in politics.

I guess people are really nihilists at heart.“It is no use trying to 'see through' first principles. If you see through everything, then everything is transparent. But a wholly transparent world is an invisible world. To 'see through' all things is the same as not to see.”

Elon Musk appears to be suing Media Matters and the Texas AG has opened an investigation. Media Matters has accused X and Musk of promoting anti-semitism and neo-Nazism and has pressured advertisers to pull ads. The problem for MM is they may have manipulated data to support the accusation.

I couldn't help but notice that between Musk, his CEO, and his attorneys, there was absolutely no denial of Media Matters' contention -- that the X platform is routinely promoting anti-semitism and neonazism, and that advertisers should be aware. The lawsuit was, of course, filed in a highly conservative district with a Trump-appointed judge in an anti-SLAPP state, far from the locations of either Media Matters or X and in front of the same judge who blocked student loan relief.
Apparently Elon does not possess the self-awareness to understand both the irony and danger of this action.
The irony?
That X claims to be ultimate supporters of free speech, even for documented liars like Trump, yet seeks to stifle others they don't agree with.
The danger?
The litigation discovery process, which will enable Media Matters to dig deep into Musk/X files, potentially revealing in court things Elon would rather keep private.

“rhetoric is really getting dangerous, more and more dangerous, and we saw what happened on Jan. 6, when he uses inflammatory rhetoric. It is just unquestionable at this point that that man cannot see public office again. He is not only unfit, he is destructive to our democracy and he has to be eliminated.”Last edited by Berzerker; November 21, 2023, 15:37.

I'm just learning about this X v MM issue but from what I have read the counter accusation is MM maliciously manipulated data to frame X. Advertisers were shown that data and led to believe their ads were appearing next to anti-semitic or neo-Nazi posts. It remains to be seen how often that happened and if MM's data was truthful. As for a pro-Trump judge and Texas AG, I think they should stay out of it but I support our adversarial legal system. I want partisans investigating the other side, like the Arizona election investigation. If Democrats ran that investigation the results would not inspire confidence. Thats why the Mueller report carried weight, partisans ran it - including some of the people who lied to a Fisa court to spy on Trump before the election.

Former senator from Missouri Claire McCaskill has said Trump is more dangerous than Hitler.
In her election effort a few years back she supported the right wing Republican in his primary against his more centrist opponent.
