Went to the source...BBC. Could just be the Ukrainians offering misdirection or could be a sign of serious attrition in their forces. They had enough to launch a counteroffensive last summer...they should have been able to replenish enough for another one unless their losses are substantially higher than they are admitting. Or they could just be waiting for more western hardware to be able to do something more decisive. Hard to tell through the Fog...."I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you're not patriotic. We should stand up and say we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration." - Hillary Clinton, 2003

Could also be less low hanging fruit for a Ukrainian offensive since Russia has put more into preparing for counter attacks. I think Ukraine was in no position to launch successful counter attacks last summer but they did so because they discovered epic blunders by the Russian military created unique opportunities to exploit. Eventually, Ukraine was going to need fundamental advantage to reliably push new offensives if Russia stopped making these openings.Originally posted by PLATO View PostWent to the source...BBC. Russia was arrogant and had not prepared any defensive measures last summer. I'm pretty sure that is no longer the case.“It is no use trying to 'see through' first principles. If you see through everything, then everything is transparent. But a wholly transparent world is an invisible world. To 'see through' all things is the same as not to see.”

Unfortunately, that is true according to several reports I have read. Now, defensive fortifications can be breeched but it will likely take time. So rapid advanced seem less likely to me but who knows?Originally posted by pchang View PostRussia was arrogant and had not prepared any defensive measures last summer. Intensified Ukrainian missile strikes on Russian bases in the South seems to indicate they are trying to soften up Russians prior to a southern offensive.

Jake Broe. He is definitely pro-Ukraine but he uses good sources which can be checked independently if one has questions.Originally posted by Berzerker View PostWho is that?
