    Public Behavior

It is important to be aware of the fact that your public behavior as a poster and as a moderate for the site you’re a member of will affect how users perceive you as a moderator. Moderators are seen as role models for the site. That means that you should act maturely and set a good example for the community. This includes, but is not limited to, petty behavior in both your messages as a poster and as a moderator. Posting simple insults displays to the community your lack of moderator etiquette. Banning people over minor infractions may not always be the best approach. Your responsibility is not just to execute punishments, but also to weigh out the severity of the infraction. An example of this might be simply banning a member or restricting a member from posting for having different views from yours. Moderating larger or more active communities can be overwhelming, yes. You should always feel free to seek guidance and help from the site owner.

    Dealing with issues

When dealing with moderation issues, seeking help from fellow staff members always seems like the best option. Getting another person’s opinion on a topic may help you to see things from a different angle and rescue you from your own biases. When performing your duties as a moderator, remember to give everyone a fair and equal treatment. It is not expected of you to become the best of friends with every single member, but one thing you should never do is talk badly about fellow members in public or do things you know will cause a bad reaction from their part. Acting in that fashion will again, display to the community your lack of moderator etiquette.

      Be Successful!

When performing your duties as a moderator, again remember to give everyone fair and equal treatment. Approach posters in a friendly way and never make them feel less validated for having different views, even if those views are completely against yours. As a representative of the site, you have to interact with others in a respective manner, especially with posters that are either new or don't agree with you. When moderating, keep an open mind about everything and take context into account. Every situation is different. Be ready and willing to implement constructive feedback into how you approach moderation and own up to when you aren’t in the right. Sometimes things will not go your way, but it’s crucial to remember that making mistakes is okay, as long as you take appropriate responsibility and grow from them. Only then will you have moderator etiquette.

                Consider the source.

-Look you're half right - for a site with more than one staffer very active. Ming's not well, self has a life, and Astro stays in Spain. I get pretty much no attaboys ever for my hard work, nor much of anything but attacked, witness five of your last seven posts. None of that's likely to ever change. Your crap comes with the job, and I mostly -rather pointedly- ignore it. Oerdin's crap is doubling down on personal backstabbing a long time ago, and the thing that works best on a bully is to kick his butt. Otherwise, I got no great beef with any of the other yardapes here, but I do read the room - you'd find my personal-touch-and-participating-as-a-participant management to come off very different in my own room w/ different rules and a well-mannered membership. I'm not aspiring to be better than Ming in his room, and you're wasting your breath with this troll. -Points for being way cleverer than most of your attempts, though.

nice post looking for pity and sorrow for your own misfortune. try working on your moderator etiquette and perhaps you'll have to deal with less crap. you might even get an attaboy from time to time from some of the yardapes. remember - the way you act/post dictates how others treat you.

Okay, I'll bite - you can't possibly mean a smilie for unspecified something I allegedly did...

                            -So what attaboy for what?
