I love how that u-turn is now sold as "we listened to the people"

    Why couldn't they listen earlier?

Truss made her big conference speech on Wednesday. I'm sure it reassured everyone. I didn't here it, but did here she walked onstage to "Moving On Up" by M People. A great, lively and catchy tune from the 90s. Only downside is that it is a song about a break-up....

You've done me wrong, your time is up
You took a sip from the devil's cup
You broke my heart, there's no way back
Move right out of here, baby, go on pack your bags

Just who do you think you are?
Stop actin' like some kind of star
Just who do you think you are?
Take it like a man, baby, if that's what you are

'Cause I'm movin' on up, you're movin' on out
Movin' on up, nothin' can stop me
Movin' on up, you're movin' on out
Time to break free, nothin' can stop me, yeah
They brag a man has walked in space
But you can't even find my place
There ain't nothin' you can do
'Cause I've had enough of me, baby, bein' part of you
One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.

Did you forget to get him a birthday present?

Actually this budget is really quite good for me personally, but under the circumstances I feel it is crazy. Oh let's cut taxes and still spend. I hope she's got a good credit card limit

I am hopeless at remembering dates. Your dad is probably the only other person's I remember for obvious reasons

I will be crossing the channel for Christmas this year, to spend with my uncle and family.

Will probably head to Bristol and Bath afterwards for a day or two, considering whether going into London or not.

It's not the best time to organize meets (week between Xmas and new year's) but will either of you be around to meet for a beer or two?

I live in Toronto (moved back in 2019), so while I would love to meet up, it would be a schlep.

If you are ever in Southern Ontario, I'd buy you a beer though.

For some reason (maybe your username), I would have sworn you had moved to France.

This was more aimed at Provost Harrison , although I'm not sure if his yearly checking out of poly is already over.

And on topic, Kwasi got the boot, replaced by Jeremy Hunt, the human rhyming slang. Well, I say human, more some sort of humanoid reptile

I commuted to Paris and Geneva weekly for work for a few years (2013-17).

Truss' goose appears to be cooked.
