Also, Germany is the third country by amount of military aid sent, behind the US and UK.

I think Germany is getting way to little credit for it's contributions. I can see how they would be a bit sensitive to supplying weapons that kill Russians, but cudos to them for coming to terms with it and supporting Ukraine.

I've got some new-found respect for the greens. Almost to the point of forgiving their historical anti-nuclear stance.

I should find out what I need to do to vote over here.

So Economics is where my Education was. Truss's plan does not fit any reasonable economic theory for success. If this works (which it won't), then she will rewrite a lot of Economic theory.

Re the ammo question: I don't know if Germany does actually have stocks of Excalibur ammo, but it's possible to fire it from a PzH 2000:

I was referring to an Italian-made type of guided ammo called Vulcano which is supplied to Ukraine:

    (sorry for the OT)

Firms' investment may be discouraged by higher borrowing costs, bankers, traders and economists say.

City insiders have warned that tax cuts designed to stimulate economic growth might have the opposite effect.

Woke lefty city FX and bond traders, what do they know about money eh?

        IMF doesn't like tax plans:
The UK government proposals will work at "cross purposes" with the cost-of-living fight, the IMF says.

Judging from former Brexit minister Frost's counter vs the IMF in the article the UK gov will just plow on...

Can't say I'm an expert in economics, but the BoE intervention sounds quite dramatic:

When the BoE has to intervene to stop pension funds collapsing due to government actions. It's as the Brits may say, a step up from a trifle.

I repeat my comment on the previous page. I only hope the sizeable pension I have accrued in the UK is actually worth something when I retire (both in GBP terms and after FX to dollars). I should be OK, still a few decades to go, my bond exposure wasn't huge....

In Scholzonomics Germany has reached an inflation of 10% in september, and is expected to go into a recession.

The gov agreed to a relief package of up to 200 billion to get energy prices down, beyond that not much known about the specifics yet.

Germany's inflation rate increased to a record 10% in September. The news comes after economic institutes predicted that the economy will shrink next year.

Pfff, Argentina has over 100%. Call me when you manage to actually get 10% inflation in a month, and not 10% yoy in a particular month

Some critics argue that the energy package will increase inflation. But I personally could do without those 10%/month

Oh, it will increase inflation, but the alternative is letting people freeze, so

Lizzy has cancelled the tax cuts.

Starts out that she is determined to give the cuts, Labour and her own party join forces to tell her she must drop the tax cuts, Lizzy blames Kwarteng, Lizzy drops tax cuts. All in mere days.

It could not be a worse start for a new leader.

At least she was made to understand a little something about basic economics.
