  • As I said early, I think the most important pro-life policies are free pre-natal/post-natal care, easily accessible and free family planning/contraception, generous parental leave (for both parents, as in Sweden), public preK and similar policies (probably also including increased minimal wage).

Abortions being paid by the state, with reasonable limitations (early, unless life of the mother, required consultation, etc) is reasonable.

The goal of pro-life policies should be that most people don't want an abortion other than in cases of the mother's life/etc.

I think I can agree with most of this. Not sure on free abortions though...seems like there should be some cost (unless of course for health reasons maybe??)

Minimum wage is a biggie. Once we decided on one it was just stupid not to index it to inflation. Real earnings for the poorest keep deteriorating and STILL we hear gripping about raising the minimum wage. Fair days work for a fair days wage please!

Part of the reason I would like free abortions is those least able to support a child will be those least able to afford an abortion delivered by suitably qualified health professionals.

Gee, was this the pizzeria that had a democratic run child sex dungeon in the basement? I thought Kavanaugh preferred unconscious ADULT women to sexually assault. GOP judges suck.

            • who was the unconscious adult woman he sexually assaulted and what does that have to do with people harassing a restaurant?

It's like a woman trying to get into an abortion clinic that's being picketed by *******s, but in reverse.

Except pro-choice protesters haven't bombed the restaurant or assassinated supreme court justices and then picketed their funerals.

I'm sorry, how many judges have been killed by pro-abortion proponents?

I think the better analogy would be the doxxing of abortion doctors and I considered that terrorism. I'd feel terrorized if I was a judge. Chuck Schumer threatens them, now they get followed around even to their homes and some guy shows up to kill Kavanaugh.

Now? I thought it was a problem when abortion doctors were being doxxed

              • Protesting is good. Threatening violence is bad. After a summer of peacefully violent protests before the last election, the lines blurred. Thems the breaks.

Dude, anti-abortion protesters have actually killed doctors and other people, bombed clinics and sent bombs and death threats. The lines most definitely did not get blurred after last summer.

                  • Some hospitals in Texas have reportedly refused to treat patients with major pregnancy complications for fear of violating the state’s abortion ban, the Texas Medical Association said in a letter this week.

The association did not name the hospitals but said it’s received complaints that hospitals, administrators and their attorneys may be prohibiting doctors from providing medically appropriate care in some situations, The Dallas Morning News reported.

Texas law bans most abortions after about six weeks of a pregnancy. A total ban — that includes an exemptions if a woman’s life or health is danger — will take effect in the coming weeks following last month’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe v. Wade.

The letter, sent Wednesday to the Texas Medical Board, cited several examples in which medical care was delayed.

In one case, a central Texas hospital reportedly told a physician not to treat an ectopic pregnancy until it ruptured, the letter said. An ectopic pregnancy, which occurs when a fertilized egg attached outside of the uterus, is not viable.

“Delayed or prevented care in this scenario creates a substantial risk for the patient’s future reproductive ability and poses serious risk to the patient’s immediate physical wellbeing,” the letter said.

The Texas Medical Board confirmed it received the letter but a spokesperson said the board cannot confirm or deny any specific complaints.

The Biden administration issued guidance this week that said hospitals must provide abortion services if the life of the mother is at risk.

Texas sued Thursday over that guidance, arguing that the federal government isn’t authorized to require emergency healthcare providers to perform abortions.
The Texas Medical Association says some hospitals in Texas have reportedly refused to treat patients with major pregnancy complications for fear of violating the state’s abortion ban.

                      Well in that spirit...

Dude! BLM protestors burned buildings and cars...injured, threatened, and killed people and half of American called it "mostly peaceful protests"! The lines most definitely got blurred after last summer!

                      • Sadly, as always, people on the fringe are the problem...both right and left. Texas lawsuit may actually have merit under the law and Congress can address this quickly if they really wanted to. The Texas Government is an ass for bringing the suit for sure, but if it helps get something codified then it may be a good thing in the end.
