FWIW I didn't have to heat since early January. Years ago the house I'm living in underwent a major reconstruction effort including improved insulation of the walls and much better windows. As an result it does not cool down easily, I only really need to turn on the heat when temps go below 0C for a longer period of time. And if needed, I'd certainly survive without that.
February has been rather mild overall, and now it's even warmer.
I realise others may not be so lucky, but as far as I'm concerned an embargo or at least a serious reduction of gas use is fine for the next winter, though best would be of course if things are resolved by then...
