I did the tutorials and then attempted to play a game. I could not get into the city screen and eventually gave up in frustration. I am obviously missing something.

In that Sparta game? IIRC it should be a simple mouse click on a city icon on the map. Can't remember precisely if left ot right btn tho

I kept getting the soldier every single time I clicked. I have it correctly now though, and I can access the city screen.

Ah, now I seek a manual. The link to the manual on the Slitherine site does not work.

Now I can not build soldiers and I do not know why. The game is unplayable if I can not build soldiers. I have the copper. I have the building needed to produce troops. I press the button to "icrease" troop production, and nothing happens. Grrrrr

In the spare room, I have a SNES hooked up to an old tv. Currently replaying Final Fantasy 2.

I've played parcheesi and Chinese checkers recently... they are very old games.
It is probably old enough to be a free public domain game by now. Check the abandonware sites for a free download.

                  Civ ToT.

Remember Civilization II: Test of Time (Windows), an old video game from 1999? Download it and play again on MyAbandonware.

I figured out it out. I built soldiers and conquered another city and put those soldiers in my new city as a garrison. It must be about ten years since I tried a new game and I had forgotten how hard it is to get into a new game for those those of us that are retarded. It has taken me several hours to get the basic mechanics of this game. I am enjoying it but I do not think it will become a favourite game. It will be worth the A$15 I paid for it. I might get the expansion pack but first I will play a few games.

As for GalCiv, noticed there's a GC IV now, but early access only so far.

You get an alpha version and can serve as tester when you pay 30+ euro-doublones and are ok with dl-ing from Epic Store -- all of which I'm not
