I am finding this Christmas pretty tough too. I am lucky to be able to work from home but I don't know when I will even be allowed to see my family (they live in Florida and travel between there and where I live has been stopped) so it's pretty hard and anxiety-making.

Having group video calls with my family helps a bit (my family likes quizzes so we do those a lot) but it's not the same as being with them and I find the calls a bit awkward. So apart from that, I try to do things to keep my mind occupied like trying to write fanfiction or baking things. I hope you can find something to take your mind off the negative feelings and get through these holidays. Next year will be better.

I'm a pessimistic Christian. Reading this thread has encouraged me to double down on my pessimism. Being optimistic just opens yourself up to psychological abuse.

Before you dismiss this world view you should consider how horrible the alternatives are.

A friend recommended that I should search for breathing exercises online and I found one that helps. Also, she told me to listen to delta waves records on youtube and that it will soothe my mind. Somehow both worked. Another thing that I'm so happy about right now was my Mom asked me to do facetime with them on Christmas eve, and I had fun! I was able to prepare enough food for Christmas after I took off from work and got me a bottle of wine. It's been fun and I've enjoyed celebrating my Christmas on facetime with my parents and some relatives!

Long ago, had terrible issues built on sin debt. Was in my 20s, now 60s... Laid down on my kitchen floor and told God I'm not getting up without help. Was the one moment in my life when I was totally without self... God answered with a love that flowed throughout whatever it is that I am. Most profound event in my life, still. May be for all eternity. Don't ever give up. Better to go without than be lost. Pray...

Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

Three things remain, faith, hope and love: and the greatest of these is love.

Breathing exercises can be good. Try to exhale twice as long as you inhale. Also never underestimate the healing powers of a good eight hours of sleep each night along with keeping a set sleep schedule. Try to do some brisk walking or other physical activity each day and try to limit your screen time as most of that is a waste anyway. I hope that helps.

I like a nice Scotch whisky, and Canadian Rye whiskey. I also currently have a bottle of Redbush Irish Whiskey, and will probably buy an American bourbon later this month... after Trump is gone.

There's a Mental Health Awareness and Support group on Facebook if you need to find any likeminded souls. That's how I made some new friends over 2020 this year.

I really appreciate your concern, I do had fun this New Year's eve! I chose to celebrate my New Year at work so I facetime with my parents the whole night while I celebrate with my workmates. We celebrated the New Year there with some food and wine as we were allowed to have a 2 hours break at work while we welcome the New Year. How about you? I hope you also had a great New Year with your family or friends.

I broiled a nice rib eye for lunch, then threw a chopped potato and carrot in the dripping and cooked them. Not an everyday lunch, but now and then I like something nice.

As far as loneliness goes I would suggest to call friends and family regularly and have some nice conversations in order to satisfy a bit of social need. Also multiplayer games you can play with a friend can do something about that feeling.

To deal with anxiety, I found exercising works by far the best. Like someone said, "If they could put exercise in a pill, it would be the best bestseller ever." Furthermore, avoid junk information from the internet and read a quality book or watch a good movie/series instead.

If you self isolate for 7+ days and don't develop covid symptoms you are free to visit your parents. Some people can develop symptoms up to 12 days from infection, but by far most get sick by the 7-8th day from infection. ...source is 2 doctors I have in my family.

But looking at the brigther side, we have the vaccines on rollout as we speak. I'm sure this year will do better for us and to our family.
