It is mostly just a show and an excuse because the UK refused to bow down to the EU's ridiculously unreasonable demands wrt Brexit. Hell, the covid variant was first found in Denmark on mink farms plus existing vaccines are completely effective.

It may factor into decisions by the likes of France and Ireland, but Ireland usually wants an open border.

Non-EU countries have also banned travellers coming from the U.K. - I presume they aren’t doing it for Brexit reasons....

So, back to coronavirus news: Current US death toll is 327,546 -- roughly the population of Lexington KY.

The 7-day moving average of deaths stands at 2,665 -- which is 18,655 dead/week.
The 7-day moving average of new cases is 218,478 -- which is 1,529,346 new cases per week.

The coronavirus has now spread to all seven continents with the first reported cases of COVID-19 in Antarctica. Chile on Monday confirmed 36 infections at its Gen. Bernardo O’Higgins Riquelme research base ― including 26 Chilean army personnel and 10 civilians.

Oh well, at least we have 2 vaccines being distributed, primarily to the frontline workers that Trump has endangered so consistently and callously throughout the pandemic.
