  • Well, the Secret Service is talking about it. About 130 agents currently either positive for Covid-19 or self-quarantining due to exposure. (That's in addition to about a half-dozen reported cases in the POUTUS detail back in August.

The outbreak is hitting the Secret Service shortly after President Trump wrapped up a packed campaign schedule with little to no social distancing.

        • Basically throw the word “WAR” into the rhetoric and you’ll see conservatives start wearing masks. If I was Biden I’d even have a General get on tv and declare an emergency. We’d have this thing knocked out in 2 months if everyone would do their part and stop being selfish ******.

"According to our study, conservatives might at least in part be less likely to wear masks because they don't feel as threatened by the virus itself," says Zane. "Any hardships that they're facing in their lives around health, financial issues, even going to movie theaters or shopping malls, might not necessarily trace back to the virus for them. So, they feel like they don't have to protect themselves from it."

To get greater buy-in about safety measures like wearing masks and economic shutdowns, Zane says that at the beginning of the pandemic, and even still now, instead of throwing around statistics, policymakers and health officials should have started talking about the virus in terms that gave it more agency.

            • After Biden takes office cons will start caring a lot about Covid deaths, while still insisting that wearing masks is fascism.

                    • "By the way, on November 4 you won't hear about it anymore," Trump said.
Actually, November 4th was when daily cases climbed above 100,000. The US has not had a day with less than 100,000 new cases since the election.
Daily deaths, of course, are on a similar track, with the 7-day moving average now up to 1,142 per day.

Trump continues to ignore the pandemic. Because he literally does not care whether Americans live or die.

Once the pandemic is over and masks become unnessecary Trump supporters will start to wear them en masse in protest against the deep state.

                          • Biden insta-dev'd another one:

Moderna: Covid vaccine shows nearly 95% protection

The results add to growing confidence that vaccination can end the pandemic.

(jokes aside, it's surely fair to note that vaccine development happened largely under Donald's watch. If we ignore that the Pfizer thing is not exclusively US made. However this doesn't undo the damage already done - and still is being done - by this WH's Covid response).

All this stuff was based upon technology developed during Obama's Presidency........

                          • Funny how this disease was scary back in June, as we waited for the wave of cases after Memorial Day weekend and the "reopening" of various states' economies. At that point, only a handful of states had even 100 cases per million population.

Predictably, by June 15, all those superspreader parties and reopened businesses and churches had created 23 states with over 1,000 cases per million.
By the end of summer, 22 states had over 10,000 cases per million.
By Halloween, we had 18 states with over 30,000 cases per million.

What's really interesting is the progression, with COVID hitting high population, mostly "blue" states in the early days, then progressing to dominate the "we don't need no stinking masks" red states more and more as time goes on.

This dynamic bar graph is a great illustration of how serious this is, and which states' approaches are working best to control the spread. Check it out:

Too bad the dates are not annotated with known super spreader events.
