You need to build a wall, and make Trump pay for it.

New Zealand and the ACT in Australia return progressive, left-leaning environmentalist governments with increased majorities.

As an aside, both employ the Hare-Clark system of elections.

If Amy Coney Barrett went on a shooting rampage killing dozens in Time Square, she'd still be appointed to the Supreme Court.

Good. We should keep it closed all winter. We're going to have enough problems as it is without letting Yankee plague rats over the border.

Canada/US border to remained closed for one more month. I suspect it will remain closed until grownups are running the US.

I looked up this Qanon today. I have no clue how any sane person could believe such crazy nonsense. It makes alien conspiracies look realistic.
    Yikes!

A friend of mine told me he had a mild interest in 'furry' culture.
I told him, "You really don't want to go down that rabbit hole."

There is hope, after all. In the meantime, I will just sit back and laugh.
This man was sucked into QAnon for two years. Here's how he escaped the virtual cult.

    North Korea has a *new* intercontinental ballistic missile... obviously Obama's fault. He didn't treat Jong-Un with the love and respect Trump did;

Sadly in almost all cases of donations without restrictions it has been poorly used or fostered dependency. (My own experience receiving gifts included. Earned money is more precious than found money.)

Of course it has to be a good wage, something that they can see continually improving their life, not just a crap deadend job for crap pay.

They should have had a group given the same money as wages for some productive endeavor. Or better yet split it into a job group vs a entrepreneurial group. Then another group which is given housing and food directly.

Of course giving money to people will help them in comparison to giving them nothing. In my experience results in descending order of effectiveness at general increase in community welfare:

    Work for pay
    Work for share of product
    Work for share of profit
    In kind for needs
    Loan for business idea
    Loan for needs
    Gift

We have always given no interest loans. Usually just on their word to repay. Usually no schedule. Sometimes when they can't pay they move into the work category.

Work for share of product has mostly been traditional rice harvest shares. It works very well here as it's what they are used to, and rice is so important. It may not work as well in other places or woth other product.

Loan for business can sometimes work very well, most of the time it crashes and burns.

In other news, perhaps the best way to help poor people is to give them money.
You've heard this refrain before -- giving money to homeless people is not the best way to help them because it might be squandered, or spent on harmful habits. But a new Canadian study makes a powerful case to the contrary.
