  • When the looting starts...

...it's "good people on both sides" no more, this applies only when the right (pun fully intended) ppl are out. I'm not sure if this thread should be about riots, Trump, Twitter's reaction to Trump, or the fact that one man had to die because four others thought it's their job to either put a knee in his neck or to let it happen until it was too late.

It's not one man dying, it is the continued tragedy since the end of Slavery and since the end of Jim Crow. It is only further explicit evidence of this, which continues to get brushed aside by half the populace.

Whilst not a solution, just a thought experiment, I do wonder what would result in terms of front line policing if white people were barred from serving as front line officers.

necessarily assuming such an action is acceptable to everyone, which it wouldn’t be. I’m not intending this to be a viability question.

This is heartbreaking and does not reflect the views of all Americans.

This administration represents the views of a very large hard core group of *******s and Trump is a blatant racist. That should be obvious to everyone by now but his core supporters have a very limited world experience so have nothing to compare it to and see why they are so wrong.

Trump supporters are anti-American and fantasize about a fascist police state. Bottom line, they are:

        1) simply afraid of black people
        2) feel they are entitled to a set of privileges and wealth

If you guys remember the abuse of the inmates at Abu Ghraib, the exact same system that went over into Iraq and did all those atrocities is the EXACT SAME CREW in the US that is terrorizing black people. Nothing has changed, and in fact, the system has gotten worse since the ******* in Chief took over. **** him.

Unfortunately good cops aren't allowed to speak up or they will get fired and their pensions taken away. In LA the locals there have a saying that the LAPD is the biggest gang in LA and it's true.

In marketing one of the golden rules is to "tell people what you aren't." So for example, if your company has ****ty customer service, just run a bunch of ads showing smiling customer service reps and how happy they are to talk to the customers. So the LAPD has phrase on their cars that says, "To Protect and Serve." BECAUSE THEY DO THE EXACT OPPOSITE.

I get it, being a cop is a very dangerous job and when you're safety is on the line, it's great to have them around to defend the weak, but the mentality is a brotherhood where when you mess with one, you mess with all of them. It discourages good cops from speaking up and encourages brutality and an us vs. them mindset.

Bebro makes a good point. These Trump *******s all show up armed with assault rifles to protest AND NOBODY SAYS A GODDAMN THING. Wow, look at these patriot *******s practicing their right to free speech and right to infect everybody else with their anti-social, reckless behavior.

        **** these mother****ers.

The cops are fired and at least one facing murder charges, which is appropriate.
Why don't you bring up the looting, burning, killing mother****ers? That response is appropriate?

Why don't you bring up the same cop who HAD 18 COMPLAINTS AGAINST him and only got "fired" when he was caught on camera?

No their rioting response is not appropriate but when the cops are setting an example of violence, it only breeds more violence. WHERE THE F DO YOU THINK THE RIOTERS LEARN THE BEHAVIOR FROM WHEN THE ******* IN CHARGE AND THE "AUTHORITIES" IN CHARGE ARE THE ONES DOING IT?

Black people have been shown violence for centuries and have showed ALOT of kindness and RESTRAINT given the daily beat downs and humiliation they have to endure.

That's there's been less violence so far has been a miracle.

By the way do you think "being fired" is an appropriate response to murdering someone? Cops outside protecting this dude's house like it's Fort Knox.

That is not an accurate description of what happened. Zimmerman left his truck and ran down a darkened path not knowing where Martin had gone after running down the same path, the dispatcher could hear him breathing hard and asked if he was following Martin. Zimmerman said yes but he had lost him, thats when the dispatcher told him not to follow.

Martin had hid near a T in the paths, Zimmerman ran thru that T to the next street to see if Martin was heading for the rear exit of the community. Zimmerman told the dispatcher he didn't know where Martin went and he would meet the cops back at his truck. Martin came out of hiding and confronted Zimmerman as he returned to his truck, Martin didn't like 'the man' and attacked him.

While Martin was hiding he talked with his friend on the phone and she heard the beginning of the attack. Martin confronted Zimmerman about following him and he asked Martin what he was doing in the neighborhood, Martin attacked him. After getting beat up Zimmerman pulled the gun and shot him.

Zimmerman is the one who initiated the confrontation and escalated the level of violence by bringing a gun. Timeline is below

He was warned not to go further but he did anyway.

                    1. Whataboutism. You can discuss one without absolving the other.
                    2. Looting, burning and the rest are bad and should be condemned.
                    3. The root cause for both, which is the subject, is the same for the murder by a cop and the response to it. The status of race relations and how different races are not treated equally.

The actions of the cop may be less worse than the looting (depending on deaths and injuries as a result), but the treatment of certain members of society is worse than the looting and rioting.

Even more hypocrisy. They say oh don't riot, but when they try other peaceful protests the STILL get criticized.

What the f is the difference between that and the Boston Tea Party? Or the Boston Massacre? Or the whole damn Chapter 1 in US history where they talk about the birth of the country STARTED WITH A DAMN RIOT.

Yeah the riot is bad but we didn't listen to them when they tried all the other ways. None of us gave a ****.

Even George Washington never took no damn knee to the neck.

The killing itself is not really controversial. When even police unions say What the ****, you're in trouble. It's pretty likely that, in this case at least, the officer is going to face actual consequences.

Also I'm reasonably (call it 75%) sure that in this case rioting is not the language of the unheard or whatever. It's the language of a small, loosely organized or disorganized class of opportunistic criminals who see every emotionally charged protest as a chance for thievery. Possibly (call it 50%) in combination with a class of quasi-professional dickhead agitators who bounce from protest to protest deliberately escalating in the hopes of fomenting revolution.

Don't fall for the BS. This is a common, age old tactic to blame outsiders.I am sure there were plenty there but I don't think we have a clear picture yet.

To give you a good comparison, CCP has been blaming the riots in Hong Kong on Americans for the past year straight. It's a very common tactic.

"Hennepin County Jail records show vast majority of those arrested for #rioting, unlawful assembly and burglary are Minnesotans

The provenance of these people is the least important aspect to me; I meant "bounce from protest to protest" in the sense of their showing up for most everything, not bussing all over the country. If Minnesota happens to have an adequate supply of homegrown anarcho-communist instigator trash, it makes little difference. No, I don't think they're financed by George Soros or the Illuminati or whoever.
