I get the whole, trying to tailor your message to your audience, but he sounds like he's copying Trump almost word for word, completely insincere, and out of touch with his base. (On top of the obvious moral issues).

Do these guys not realize everybody has a camera now and your message is going to go viral ?

This whole speech sounds trying to hard also.

1. The video is from 2006. So pre-Trump
2. He focuses on his view of the key issue - to stop the flow of drugs. Immigration concerns are secondary
3. He says the focus should be on getting Mexico to sort it’s **** out. Else a wall is worthless.
4. To the extent it’s about migration, he says target the employers breaking the law, not the immigrant.

Even if you disagree with the policy, I don’t see it being Trump policy/rhetoric
