Btw, We now have witnesses that say that Mueller applied to replace Comey. Trump interviewed him. Mueller testified that he was telling Trump what kind of person he should pick. Pretty sure that is false testimony. I think he was trying to get something like an interview (from Trump). We have communications obtained from Judicial Watch that show that Mueller was already selected as Special Prosecutor at that time.

Well it's certainly not acceptable for this person to not do everything possible to back up their claims. We're talking about the Presidential Election and possibly real impeachment.

So, sometimes it's acceptable for someone required to give testimony to not give it in person?

Again; it doesn't carry much weight, sometimes none, if they don't subject themselves to questioning etc...

So if you get an affidavit from someone overseas, or for some reason can't come to court, that's worth something because it's hard for them to testify. But you aren't going to be able to even use that to convict someone of a serious crime.

Fortunately Trump has repeatedly admitted on camera that he did the thing he's being accused of, and the transcript he released also demonstrates that he did the thing he's being accused of, so the whistleblower's testimony doesn't seem like something to get hung up on.

He actually released the transcript to demonstrate his innocence. The President of Ukraine, who is an actual witness, said that he didn't get pressured to do anything. They were already investigating Biden.

That not-really-a-transcript release was a huge error.

Yeah, and Cheney got the guy he shot to apologize to him.

Biden is corrupt. There may be evidence that he tried to fix 2016. There's no comparison to that and what Trump did (or tried to do). Biden needs to be investigated, period. And he is being investigated.

Bottom line is Trump didn't commit a crime because they were already investigating Biden and there just isn't any evidence of a crime at all. But if Trump just makes you feel icky then don't vote for him. I will say though that impeaching a President that hasn't even committed a crime is going to piss a lot of people off, like a whole lot.

The very idea that Trump was "investigating corruption" and claiming that it was "my duty" is just hilarious.
Certainly no one is naïve enough to belief such a story...

Again, the Ukrainians were already investigating Biden and with good reason. So Trump did nothing. You are going on and on about nothing. That's what's hilarious.

It's a yes or no question Kid. Is someone who is required to give testimony required to do it in person?

                        In this case, yes.

So this is unbelievable. The House Ds have already decided that written testimony is enough. It's the Senate Rs that are saying no way will we even have a trial.

This would be like having a trial for murder and the police just take a written statement from an accuser.

POLITICS House Dems Hit a Snag in Their Mission to Get the Whistleblower to Testify on Trump

                          By REUTERS | Oct 12, 2019
Talks over whether the whistleblower who sparked an impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump will testify to Congressional committees are hung up on the question of whether the person can submit written testimony, two sources familiar with the discussions said.

Negotiators in the Democratic-led U.S. House of Representatives are open to the career intelligence officer making written testimony while negotiators in the Republican-majority Senate have resisted, said the sources.

The whistleblower’s representatives want to make sure the person remains anonymous. Discussions between Congressional investigators and representatives of the whistleblower have been suspended at least temporarily, though the sources indicated they were expected to resume when lawmakers return from a recess next week.
