Funny enough the latter is incorrect.
Germany was the first country worldwide where some kind of universal healthcare was instituted by law (in the 1880s), by the famous Otto von Bismarck.
That was long before the Nazis, just 1 decade after the unification of germany, where germany still was an empire.

This also means that the universal healthcare was actually "invented" by (german) nationalists

The Nazis AFAIK did nothing to change anything about it, as even they knew the worth of healthy employees for the national economy.

In the sense that he has praised every violent dictatorship his continent has ever produced. Also prior to election day military police went on a rampage in twenty colleges tearing down anti-fascism posters and destroying books on the history of fascism. Brazil was under military rule in the nineties, IIRC, so it's not a hypothetical like with Trump; this country had firsthand experience with the thing it was voting for.

Nationalism, meaning patriotism, gets a bad rap. In Europe the lying **** stains in the anti-Democratic and authoritarian EU have long slandered and maligned the nation state for an obvious self interest reason. Namely, the EU wants to destroy nation status and place themselves into perpetual unelected and completely unaccountable power. So they lie and claim anything which benefits nation states or its peoples are evil and Nazi like. They can piss up a rope.

While in the US we have people like that hysterical black nationalist woman on CNN the other day that anyone who is a nationalist (read: Patroit) is some how a "white nationalist" who wants to kill brown people. That is just them injecting their own racism and hatred for America where it does not belong. Then dems wonder why they lose even to an incompetent imbecility like Trump.

1985. Not the 1990's. Also one of the things that makes it more likely that Bolsonaro can turn Brazil into a dictatorship is because its civil institutions were weak at the best of time yet both the left and the center have been so widely discredited recently by running such massive, and I do mean truly massive, public corruption schemes. People turned to the far right because both the far left and the center proved themselves to be thieves.

Will Bolsonaro be any different? I doubt it as he is still Brazilian and Latin American and corruption isn't just part of their political culture. It is their political culture. The apple will not fall far from the tree.

That is one of the reasons Brazil is the country of the future... And always will be. In Latin America the only consistently well governed countries are Chile and Costa Rica and that only goes back to the 1970's. Arguably you might be able to put Uruguay on that list but not being terrible does not "well governed" make.
