No I didn't support it because the Dem's were too gutless and let the Reps gut it in order to get their support.
And the crap punishment/enforcement of the mandate doomed the bill from the start.
But none of this makes the current proposed plan a good one.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

I'm not claiming that it's a good bill. I'm saying there is plenty of blame to go around.Originally posted by rah View PostNo I didn't support it because the Dem's were too gutless and let the Reps gut it in order to get their support.

I don't know about that. It's hard to blame the dems for a proposal that none of them will see until it's proposed.
You have to own what you propose. The DEMS certainly owned Obama Care. The REPs should do the same with this piece of crap.

The republicans don't even try to fix ACA.Originally posted by Kidicious View Post
Ha! And you're blaming Rs for not fixing ACA.
They just milk the budget of ACA and Medicaid in order to be able to finance their tax cuts for the rich
Which actually is why it is no surprise that they preferred to create their Trumpcare with no input from the Dems (and without even informing anyone outside of their small circle of 13 GOP senators about the specifics of their drft, until it was completed)Tamsin (Lost Girl): "I am the Harbinger of Death. Why are you always completely wrong about everything? Quote it, because it sure as hell didn't say that. It said ending the subsidies and capping and cutting Medicaid were the primary drivers of people losing their health insurance.Originally posted by Kidicious View PostThe CBO estimates that the number of uninsured will increase primarily because the penalty (TAX) for not having insurance will be eliminated. Sounds pretty cruel to me.
Also it will reduce the deficit and lower premiums.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

That's just a talking point. The bill would eliminate the employer mandate as well as the individual mandate as already mentioned. It would also give tax credits to the high risk and needy. And it would reduce some regulation and finance some state innovation.Originally posted by Proteus_MST View Post

So what is your reason for wanting the USA to continue being the only country in the civilized world that does not provide for the medical needs of its citizens?

1) I don't judge countries by the large size and power of their governments. In fact, it would be closer to the truth that I judge countries by how small and weak their governments are. Where you have weaker governments you will have stronger more independent individuals. This is why both men and women of previous generations were much MUCH stronger than men and women today. In fact, individual weakness and dependency is a serious problem.Originally posted by -Jrabbit View PostSo what is your reason for wanting the USA to continue being the only country in the civilized world that does not provide for the medical needs of its citizens?
3) I believe in the free market. If those who believe that the govt should subsidize healthcare put forth a real plan to protect markets I would be much more open.
4) Imo those who think that it's the govt job to provide health care aren't cost conscious. The system in the UK is an exception, but I don't think that can or should be duplicated here.I drank beer. I like beer. I still like beer. ... Do you like beer Senator?

Tax credits seem to be more useful for midddle to high earners (who pay more taxes) than for people of the lower income classes.Originally posted by Kidicious View Post

So, actually it seems to subsidize people who may have less problems to afford healthcare without state help, while eaving those who may need help (in order to afford a health insurance) out in the rainTamsin (Lost Girl): "I am the Harbinger of Death. Funny how many of the states with universal healthcare are located ower on the fragility index (= more stable) than the USAOriginally posted by Aeson View PostKid ... here's a list of countries you can move to to become less weak:

(also funny how the years of Obama saw a steady decrease in US fragility score .. whereas one half year of Trump already resulted in an increase of the US fragility score, that undid the decreases of more than one year Obama)Last edited by Proteus_MST; June 27, 2017, 23:55.Tamsin (Lost Girl): "I am the Harbinger of Death.
