Valerie Jarrett actually has a strange similarity with one of the characters on that show. So I would argue that it clearly is NOT racist. She didn't say that she looks like a gorilla, which is the actual racist term. She said that she looks like PLANET OF THE APES. Never heard black people referred to as PLANET OF THE APES actually. Are you saying that they are?Originally posted by Wezil View PostI won't speak to what is in Roseanne's heart and whether or not she is a racist.
Her twitter post however was clearly racist.I drank beer. I like beer. I still like beer. ... Do you like beer Senator?

I'm not defending what she posted. I'm saying that it wasn't racist. Did Rosannne say it was racist and call herself a racist?Originally posted by Wezil View Post..and yes, she has taken responsibility* and asked that people not try to defend what she posted as it was clearly wrong.. Pretty much everybody except demented American right wingers think her post was racist.
I've already conceded I don't know what was in her heart. I leave open the possibility Roseanne truly was so stupid/ignorant/drugged to realise it was such. If a person in this day and age doesn't see a problem with comparing a black person with an ape then there is certainly something twitchy going on with them. Hint - Her twitter post wasn't intended as flattery.

For the record -
I have enjoyed the reboot of her show and am sad it won't be continued. The cast was fantastic and it was a good vehicle to tackle some serious political/social issues.
That said, ABC had no choice but to cancel it. Roseanne made herself toxic in the view of the non-demented public."I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure." - Clarence Darrow

I don't make a habit of calling people racist when I don't know. Liberals do enough of that. You can call us demented for that if that's what you choose to do but you aren't winning any converts. Like I said, just because you believe it's racist doesn't make it so.Originally posted by Wezil View PostPretty much everybody except demented American right wingers think her post was racist.

BTW, Rosanne still insists that it's not racist.

1) I didn't call Roseanne a racist. Please pay attention.
2) I was wondering how long it would take before you called me a "liberal". My voting record soundly disproves that. Although we have an actual "Liberal Party" I have never in my 50+ years voted for them. More often than not I voted Conservative. Granted, pretty much everybody outside the US is a "liberal" in US right winger eyes, your attempt to pigeon hole me has failed.
3) I'm not trying to convert you Kid. You are pretty far gone and well beyond my non-professional expertise. I'm watching a rather dull TV episode online and am somewhat bored.
4) It's not just me Kid. Comparing a black person to an ape is a racist comparison. Most except those (avoiding the use of "demented" here to protect snowflake sensibilities) "driven to behave irrationally due to anger, distress, or excitement" would agree.
5) I really don't care whether Roseanne thinks it was racist. It's not her call to make."I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure." - Clarence Darrow
"I didn't attend the funeral, but I sent a nice letter saying I approved of it." - Mark Twain

If Rosanne is not racist than what she says is literally not racist. Only a racist can make racist comments. Frickin logic dude. If you are going to be a condescending douche you have to use logic.Originally posted by Wezil View Post1) I didn't call Roseanne a racist. Please pay attention.

This condescending douche thinks a person can be so stupid/drugged/ignorant as to not realise their comment is racist.

The question I'm wondering - Why is it so important to you that her reputation be saved?"I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure." - Clarence Darrow

Sounds like "don't Ambien and tweet"Originally posted by Aeson View Post
The known side effects of Ambien could certainly have contributed to it.

Ambien is clearly not doing it's job if she is capable of tweeting.

O.K.: All blacks are evil worshipper of Satan
According to you this is no racist comment, because it comes from me and I am definitely no racist
