Not really. The push to remilitarization initially energized the ecomony but put Germany in a position where they basically had to go to war to avoid an inevitable economic crash. It was incredibly short term thinking, but then again he did actually intend to start the war so it makes sense in that context.

Keynesian economics doesn't always work. In fact it is likely to fail. No one thought Germany's economy was going to grow like that. It's easy to say in hindsight, but you're wrong.

But that's not the point I was trying to make. Maybe we will see some manipulation of the economy, less free trade. It's honestly just as likely that the economy will expand as it is that it will contract. If you think you know then you don't.

You're missing the point. The German 'recovery' was basically artificial, built on a massive program of military spending. Unlike the US of today that has a hugely vibrant underlying economy to support its military spending, Germany was in a seriously fragile economic state with the Great Depression combined with Versailles reparations leaving it incredibly vulnerable. Remilitarization provided a short term injection of growth, but there was no foundation there to support it long term. It really was a 'war or bust' scenario.

No you missed my point. I wasn't actually saying that the US economy is like the 1930 economy of Germany. I'm saying that we just don't know what is going to happen to the economy if there is policy change.

We will miss your citizenship. It is sad that you are going to give it up. Now, more than ever, we need participating voices from all people in our society. I hope you will reconsider.

Just curious though...where are you going to try and take citizenship? Canada?

As usual, you show yourself to be a good student of history.

Trump will increase crack downs and divert attention from his disasterous internal policies to the troublemakers, untill he will no longer be able to justify why america is such in a bad shape and violent protesters aren't the reason.
                  Then he will fall.
Interesting. I think President trump will be far different than Candidate Trump. The big problem with him at the start of the primaries was that the Repubs thought he was to liberal. I think he will disapoint a lot of the redneck vote who took his campaign marketing to heart.

We need one of the popular vote, like most other western countries. No, I'm sorry but this electoral crap just doesn't cut it anymore.
The electoral college was set up just for this exact purpose. Each individual State was concerned about being overwhelmed by more populous states. Since we have such a massive population in California now and that the majority there has much different views than the citizens of a majority of states, it seems it is a wise system. We must remember that this is a union of states...not just one big state.

The "He isn't my President" people don't believe in participating voices from all people. That's why he left the site.
