what is the problem that you think you are describing?"The Christian way has not been tried and found wanting, it has been found to be hard and left untried" - GK Chesterton.

Refreshing Shower
By now most of us know about Japan's high-tech electric toilets, but let's not ignore Brazil's electric showerheads and their scary wires sticking out of the walls in shower cabins.
2nd August 2016No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

well, very obviously with public projects, the problem is with the public sector. although of course those bidding for contracts are also corrupt."The Christian way has not been tried and found wanting, it has been found to be hard and left untried" - GK Chesterton.

imagine that my company and your company are in negotiations, and i want your company to accept my company's bid, so i bribe you to recommend it even though it may not be the best offer. then imagine 1,001 variations on that theme."The Christian way has not been tried and found wanting, it has been found to be hard and left untried" - GK Chesterton.

Trickle down economics and free trade will solve it all. Throw some breadcrumbs at the poor while the rich fleece the entire country. Awesome idea.
Reaganomics is a disease. For there is [another] kind of violence, slower but just as deadly, destructive as the shot or the bomb in the night. This is the violence of institutions -- indifference, inaction, and decay. This is the violence that afflicts the poor, that poisons relations between men because their skin has different colors. - Bobby Kennedy (Mindless Menance of Violence)

Free trade is a very good thing for those living in ivory towers.

On a wider note, do you consider a supplier buying you a beer a bribe? How about a car? How about a house? Is letting a client's son intern a favour or a bribe, or if you make them a nice cushy job even though they have no qualifications? All to win work?
There are so many grey lines on what constitutes corruption I wouldn't like to say what a company would do if it found questionable practices that were leading to sub-optimal results. Depends entirely on the culture of the place in question. One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.
