She was disarmed. She wasn't a risk anymore. Still some tasing is necessary?Originally posted by Elok View PostWha? I'm not defending the multi-tasing, I'm saying "well, she doesn't have a knife in this video of her resisting arrest" is remarkably silly. Of course she doesn't. She was supposedly threatening people with said knife, and she was resisting arrest quite vigorously without it. Why on earth would the cops let her keep it (assuming she had one in the first place)?
I don't see how the point you are making is adding to that equation."Ceterum censeo Ben esse expellendum."

My sister or mother wouldn't have pulled a knife on someone then tried to fight a police officer including spiting and biting. This is what an officer is supposed to do to subdue a violently resisting suspect or would you just have them ask pretty please? They clearly went tgrough the force continuum esclating only after the suspect did not comply with the previous measures.Originally posted by kentonio View PostYou are clearly insane. He brutally assaulted her and if that had been your sister or mother you'd be raging.
Frabkly, I am thinking it is you who is deranged and unfairly biased against the officers.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

No one was tortured that I saw. What I did see was a duspect fighting and violently resisting arrest so the officers were forced to go through the standard force continuum to subdue to resisting suspect. This is exactly what officers are trained to do and are supposed to do.Originally posted by dannubis View PostKid seems to be trying really hard to take the crown from Ben as king ****stain on humanity.
As for gribbler and oerdin: nobody says she shouldn't have been arrested. What is being said is that she shouldn't have been tortured while being arrested.

It continues to amaze me that we both (presumably) watched the same video and yet managed to take completely different conclusions from it.Originally posted by Dinner View PostMy sister or mother wouldn't have pulled a knife on someone then tried to fight a police officer including spiting and biting. If she is continuing to resist then the purpose of the taser is to help subdue her. That is exactly how the cops used it.Originally posted by dannubis View PostShe was disarmed. She wasn't a risk anymore. Still some tasing is necessary?

It is called me being fact based and you being emotionally based on appearances. Your OP clearly demonstrates that. The cops followed the proper continuum for use of force only escalating after the previous measure did not result in the suspect ceasing to resist. They followed correct proceedure to subdue a violently resisting suspect who was suspected of being armed (though she apparently ditched the knife before the cops arrived, I imagine some security cam footage of the original event will be found).Originally posted by kentonio View PostIt continues to amaze me that we both (presumably) watched the same video and yet managed to take completely different conclusions from it.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

Well if you want to be hostile about it, I could equally say that its me being fact based and you being the victim of endless violent propaganda that has brainwashed you into believing that high levels of violence are the solution to every problem.Originally posted by Dinner View PostIt is called me being fact based and you being emotionally based on appearances. The police use force here regularly, but force can be applied sparingly and with an emphasis on restraint. The issue I have with many of these American videos of police restraint are that they involve the officers appearing to try and batter the suspect into submission with the deliberate application of pain inducing techniques, the use of punches and kicks, and above all the over-use of tazers.Originally posted by giblets View PostIf someone is violently resisting arrest then the police have to use force
It appears to be more than anything else a difference in mentality. In the UK the police first and foremost try and defuse situations verbally, and only resort to force when absolutely required. In the US the mentality appears to be that by not immediately complying with a police command, you are resisting them and are fair game for the use of force. That is a really big difference in procedure.
