I have to say that this thread proves more than anything - culturally, Americans are a bunch of barbarians. Rarely has this been shown so openly, even in here. (not counting Kid and Ben, as Ben is a special case - and a Canadian, while Kid ~ still not sure he is "real" )

"Old woman brutally arrested, thrown on ground after skipping red light in Croatia (VIDEO) "
A 66-year-old woman was brutally arrested by traffic police in a Croatian city of Osijek after she crossed the road on red light.
The video of the unpleasant incident, filmed from a bodycam on the officer’s uniform, was released on the Croatian police channel on YouTube.
The footage shows the policeman putting an arm lock on the elderly woman and violently bringing her to the ground as she cries for help.
The officer resorted to the use force after the female, who earlier skipped the red light, ignored calls to show her ID and tried to walk away from him in the street.
A witness told Index.hr that the policeman, who is described as a large man weighing around 130 kilograms, “threw himself onto [the woman] with all his mass, pushed her onto the concrete in a passage, and handcuffed her."
Another person on the scene told the website that he "attempted to intervene," but the officer allegedly warned that "he should move away himself, or be arrested as well."
The State Attorney's Office reviewed the video and ruled that the actions of the police were lawful, as the offender resisted arrest.
The woman, who reportedly avoided injuries, will be charged with a misdemeanor for jaywalking and failing to identify herself to the officer.

Don't resist arrest in Croatia.
In the western world they would try to cover up such incidents insteadTamsin (Lost Girl): "I am the Harbinger of Death. I arrive on winds of blessed air. Air that you no longer deserve."

What really confuses me is what exactly you guys think happens to a person when they're under extreme pain? In so many of these videos you have dumb**** cops telling people to stay still while inflicting severe pain on them causing them to writhe and try and get away from what's hurting them. She had a guy kneeing and punching her, another seemingly pulling her hair in between yanking her arms up her back, moments after being thrown onto the concrete.

I'm not totally sure what they were doing with that taser--I always thought it was basically a one-shot, steady-discharge weapon, where you use gas cartridges to drive the spikes out, then send the current down the cables to immobilize the target. The one time I've seen a demonstration, that's how it worked. I wasn't aware that it was even possible to rapid-fire it down somebody's body that way, I thought you needed replacement gas and/or a recharge.
So, yeah, I don't know what's going on here. But I think if I sustained multiple body blows coupled with repeated electric shocks, I would rapidly lose the capacity to resist at all. In that same demo I once saw, the guy (who was a self-defense instructor in good physical shape) fell over like a wood plank. This girl is getting zapped and beaten and still fighting like that? Is she maybe high on something, or what?
EDIT: Okay, I looked it up. Drive stun mode, it's called. Absurd that it even exists, since it apparently does nothing but hurt like hell (you can tell I'm new to this stuff, huh?). I thought she was getting a full shock that whole time, which you'd think would pretty much require PCP.Last edited by Elok; June 23, 2016, 14:10.

1 - no beating, pulling hair, etc - you can only see the guy put her arm behind her back repeatedly, as she is resisting arrest trying to avoid jaywalking fine (which would likely have not been handed out anyhow, just a warning, but she chose to "run away" )
2 - no tasering
3 - the police has body cams
4 - the police published the video
5 - we are not exactly the bastion of civilization, to be compared to(that would be the Nordics + Swiss; used to be the US, at least while US marketing department worked well in 70's and 80's)
btw in our video, the officer asked her twice to stop, took her for the hand first, and there were a few insults thrown his way.
Sure both women are in distress, in one case you have a person getting out injury free and all is recorded (officially), in the other she is beaten, repeatedly tasered while apprehended, the US lady needed medical attention afterwards, which is not exactly a surprise, and most of you guys are fine with the conduct of your police!?! (Loin excepted, he is standing up for the civilized people among you)

That's not necessarily true.
I told you in Zagreb I was trying to get a ticket and a guy told me "nah, just board the tram and if check comes say you're tourist. they'll let you go
THAT'S WHAT I CALL CIVILIZATION!
(and balkan co-camaradery)
In the nordic countries they'd probably put me doing community work plucking daisies for 50 years
(also zagreb is beautiful)

Well that is true(on both counts), but I guess that would be considered "uncivilized" in the west
(not paying for the ride)
