I only want the best for this country and the world. Period. I am pragmatic. For there is [another] kind of violence, slower but just as deadly, destructive as the shot or the bomb in the night. This is the violence of institutions -- indifference, inaction, and decay. This is the violence that afflicts the poor, that poisons relations between men because their skin has different colors. - Bobby Kennedy (Mindless Menance of Violence)

And you forgot to add the mandatory "I'm a nasty idiot" in your post. For there is [another] kind of violence, slower but just as deadly, destructive as the shot or the bomb in the night. This year the electorate is in an antiestablishment mood and Hillary Clinton is as establishment and as elitist as it gets. She is just the worst candidate the party could have picked. Check out this video of Cenk from The Young Turks about his discussion with an uber driver who drove him from the Democratic Convention back to his hotel. It pretty much sums up the problem with Hillary.

Originally posted by Dinner View PostHer speech was rather flat and a great many commentators agreed on that point. Also it went on for to long. She did hit some nice points which Bernie used to make during his campaign speeches but the truth is I do not believe her sudden last minute conversion nor that she actually has any commitment to any of it.
Did Hillary Clinton nail her acceptance speech at the Democratic convention? Lanny Davis and others offer their reactions.
"She offered voters a strong and effective speech that paid great respect to former rival Sen. Bernie Sanders (Vt.), his supporters and his cause and offered a powerful and dramatic contrast to GOP nominee Donald Trump who, as she said, divides our nation and does not have the temperament to command our military." - Brent Budowsky
"I believe this was not only the greatest speech Hillary Clinton has ever made, but that it may rank as one of the best acceptance speeches in memory." - Lanny J. Davis
"The speech appealed to the best in all of us. That's the way she believes she can win." - Mark Plotkin
"Hillary Clinton handled herself Thursday night with skill and grace, methodically laying out her beliefs and her vision for America while simultaneously picking apart GOP nominee Donald Trump." - Ross Rosenfeld
"- A CNN/ORC poll conducted right after Clinton’s Democratic nomination acceptance speech showed that 86 percent of the sample had positive impressions of the speech, including 71 percent who viewed it very positively."
The viewers also liked it.
So, rather flat huh? The pundits and commentators mostly agreed it was an excellent speech, and polls had overwhelmingly positive impressions (71% - very positively).
Edit: https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...language-work/
"In any case, in Clinton’s acceptance speech we heard something rare in American politics — a politician letting language do its job."
Another more lengthy viewpoint on her speech.
The pundits and commentators very much liked the speech and praised it for its dynamism. For there is [another] kind of violence, slower but just as deadly, destructive as the shot or the bomb in the night. You even have republicans saying it was a coherent and good speech, and most of them can't stand Hillary. For there is [another] kind of violence, slower but just as deadly, destructive as the shot or the bomb in the night.
