It appears the problem wasn't confined to Germany if Finnish police are to be believed.

I pointed out an article about this above. Zurich also had the same muslim rape gang problem on New Year's eve. It is quite a wide spread problem.

It is hard to integrate people who do not want to be intigrated. The best way to make them is to force them to get a job and function in the regular economy. That would mean changing a whole lot of labor jobs so that unskilled labor becomes worth hiring and it would also mean ending the welfare handouts so they have no choice but to work.

i don't see why that's the case. unskilled workers find work all the time, and making people desperate is unlikely to help them integrate.

Cologne's police chief has apparently resigning if Twitter is to be believed. Any guesses if that is as far as it goes or should we look for more resignations?

Considering that the police chief was the figure that stood most out in the public (with his first report, claiming a quiet silvestrer night, as well as several comments in the media), I would guess that he is made scapegoat for everything and will probably be the only person of a higher level to resign (despite there surely being involved other people in this mess ... for example those who decided to deny any additional reinforcements to the police forces at the scene)

He should and heads above him in the political establishment need to roll as well. That they all thought it was a good idea to cover these crimes up and not inform the public that such dangerous animals were on the loose is unforgivable. I used to live in Egypt. This sort of **** used to happen there. It enrages me.

Crowds of young men know that in number they are safe from retaliation or prosecution. They used to charge around Cairo and finger-rape or gang-rape women. The "lucky" women escape by having their clothes torn off.

What the world learned about because of Tahrir had in fact been going on for years. On holidays, mobs of young men would tear around and do this. It was a sort of flash mob.

Always in the dark, and always in crowds. It is a known event and a known thing that they would do. They do it for gratification and a thrill. This event sounds exactly like what I saw in Egypt.

That this happened in Koln is significant. This is the most cowardly and despicable type of human that engages in this sort of mob. I am not a tough guy, but honestly it makes my blood boil to imagine my wife or daughter caught up in this.

This story should be discussed. This absolutely cannot stand in Europe. No. I saw it in Egypt. It is disgusting. You have to stop this before it becomes normal. If they get the idea they can do this you will be living with it. It is the most horrible thing. It makes it unsafe to go out on holidays, and you live in fear.

I am actually in support of helping refugees, I understand their plight, but this in particular is a very insidious thing that you absolutely cannot sweep under the rug or fail to understand. I think first you have to put your foot down about this **** then you worry about the refugees second.

Censoring this story is so stupid. This is not the thing to gamble about or pretend it isn't real or it is a fluke. It is totally possible for this to become a regular occurrence and it completely spoils life for decent people.

tldr: Apparently similar things happen in Egypt(and possibly other countries) regularly.

It can't be too hard to deal with this sort of thing though. Arrest and jail suspects and let it be known that anybody caught doing that will be dealt with swiftly. People react to incentives after all.

What amazes me is muslims are still a minority in Europe but some are drawing a lot of the wrong kind of attention to themselves. Europe has a long history of intolerance of minorities based on race or religion, look at what happened to the Jews. Of course people say that is all in the past.

I'd be interested in seeing stats on how this New Year's Eve compares with average New Year's Eves. Drunken violence and sexual assault rates always rocket upwards for that night, but if it's just the usual suspects doing it this tends to be ignored.

What are you worried about a hard right for? Jews are already persecuted in Germany, by Muslims.
