If somebody says something stupid and then retracts what they said (maybe they misspoke, maybe they've seen the light, whatever) then that's defensible; however if somebody says something stupid and either fails to retract what they've said or else doubles down on stupid (maybe they say that we should bomb a Muslim-sounding country that doesn't exist, maybe they're a proponent of collective punishment, whatever) then they've made their bed and can lie in it. You're certainly not doing Ben any favors by bringing up his (alleged?) racism in unrelated threads.
