Not really. The Israelis have been constrained. You don't want to see what a modern state like Israel could do if feeling unconstrained. The example Russia made of the Chechen Republic would be a starting point.

They've managed to bludgeon two of them into peace, a third is no longer recognizable as a state, and the fourth is in civil war. Meanwhile the Palestinians regularly work themselves into human bombs to kill Israelis.

Myth 2: If the Israelis let loose on Gaza the way the Russians let loose on Grozny, or the way Palestinians would like to let loose on Israel, there would be no Gaza and no Palestinians living there. It would be unpopulated. A modern state can do that if unconstrained. The fact Gaza is still populated is evidence of constraint. It's a tiny place. It would be infinitesimally easy for a state like Israel to render it uninhabitable to all but rats.

An afternoon of thermobaric bombing or the use of any wmds would indeed eliminate the entire population of Gaza. Anyone who claims Israel has not shown massive restraint is appallingly ignorant at best.

you seem unable to differentiate between the palestinians and the various arab powers around them; either that or you're conflating them deliberately to cloud the issue.

be that as it may, israel has had gaza under blockade since 2006, an aggressive act and an example of collective punishment, which is also a war crime. it has stolen and continues to steal palestinian land, kick out the inhabitants and plant jewish settlers on it, which is proscribed under the fourth geneva convention. they also, when the palestinians try to resist, take actions that kill hundreds of times as many civilians as the palestinians' actions. they attack the palestinians in diverse ways each and every day.

the USA and russia have enough nuclear weapons to render the entire world uninhabitable. therefore, any action they take short of that is 'restrained'. great logic.
