When I and my wife lived in Brussels we went to the molenbeek area a few times. It is one of the most uncomfortable areas for me to go, more so than most areas I have been in South Africa or the United States (both much more dangerous countries). What was so uncomfortable was all the young men just sitting around having an espresso or beer and obviously not having any 'normal' source of steady employment.
