As I said, I lean towards open borders. But that doesn't mean you don't check who's coming in. (similar to what I do at my own home, hence the analogy)
I lock my door at night, so I can see who comes into my house. Very rarely have I ever kept anyone from entering. But if they were standing on my porch with a gun and a bad attitude, you could bet that I wouldn't unlock the door.

I think immigration is one of the things that has made the US a great country.
