The pest control one has me a bit worried ...

Human: "Exterminator 3000STS, eliminate all the pests in this house."
Exterminator 3000STS: "Yes, Master. Farewell, Master."

I'm also a software engineer (or programmer or whatever), so, 8%

I'm happy to see that dentist is at 2.1%

My company already automates my job, but because a good chunk of our customers are older than ENIAC, they haven't quite figured out how to make use of that automation yet.

Come to think of it, I think I'm responsible for automating other people's jobs. Such is life.

            Likelihood of automation?
            It's not very likely (37%)
On the other hand, my cardiologist has informed me that there is a high probability that I will be automated in about 10 years.

              Likelihood of automation?
              It's not very likely (33%)

I'm surprised it's that high, but "translators" probably skews it since translation can already be done automatically (albeit poorly)

yes, i think you're right about that. though machine translation is still pretty useless for most purposes (essentially a giant search engine) and can't cope with some very basic problems.

We are not that far from sexbots. Fortunately, I've just finished a film entitled "Electogonorrhea, The Noisy Killer!"

My job is nowhere to be found on that list (or, more properly, the 5 or so things on the list which could potentially describe my job include mostly people who do substantially different things than I do).

My guess is that this makes my job less likely to be automated than almost anything on the list.

The closest descriptions (and they are not all that close) are:

                        Actuary, economist or statistician
                        Engineering professional (other)
Finance and investment analyst and adviser
                        Financial institution manager or director
                        Programmer and software development professional

You'd think that should be the absolute safest job from being automated ... but you know some dumbass is going to automate it just to spite some other dumbass after they get in an edit war on Wikipedia about the programming language best suited to use to automate other people's jobs away ...

First they came for the assembly/systems avionics developers, and I said nothing. Then they came for the database auditors, and I said nothing. Then they came for the phone book distributors, and I said nothing. Then after a few hundred years of this they came for me, but I was either dead or had uploaded my consciousness to a dystopian virtual world so I didn't give a ****.

How about 97%? It's a good thing I'll retire first.
