  • You claim that a representative govt is not part of the crowd is not supported. Politicians lead the crowd, in so much as they say what the crowd wants to hear.

To The Hijack Police: I don't know what you are talking about. I didn't do it. I wasn't there. I don't even own a computer.

      • Kid, no one is asking Kim Davis to change her beliefs. All she's being asked to do is the same thing she signed up for -- to administer the duties of her job. Those duties were subject to change from the get-go; laws change all the time. People's religious beliefs change all the time. It's to be expected that these things would be in conflict from time to time.

Kim Davis (and all government employees, whether elected or hired) is free to believe as she will, and to express that opinion. Her church is free to refuse to marry same-sex couples on the basis of its doctrine. But outside her church, in the real world, same sex civil marriages are now a thing.

Her job is to sell various licenses to various residents in accordance with these ever-changing CIVIL laws and regulations of the government. If she cannot perform or willfully refuses to perform her duties, for whatever reason, the people of her county have the right to their duly elected government function in accordance with the law. Whether by resignation, firing, or impeachment, she is out. For cause.

Kim Davis' excuse/reason for not doing her job is her born-again Christian faith. The ironic fact of the matter is that, like the government changing its laws, Davis changed her beliefs - in 2011! So why is it it OK to change what she believes, but not OK for the the government to change its rules? That's just stupid. And it's what defines Kim Davis as a hypocrite.

There was actually a member at the Constitutional Convention(from South Carolina) who opposed the Bill of Rights because he knew douches like you would go "hurr well if it isn't specifically mentioned then the right doesn't exist". He even sarcastically asked if a line guaranteeing the right to get married should be included.

This was such a big concern that the 9th Amendment was specifically voted on and passed, to nip the "well if it isn't mentioned then the right doesn't exist" crowd in the bud. Of course, you jackasses keep on ignoring it anyway.
Today, you are the waves of the Pacific, pushing ever eastward. You are the sequoias rising from the Sierra Nevada, defiant and enduring.

This post makes me thinks of the Simpsons episode where the founders of Shelbyville founded their town so that they could have the right to marry their sisters.

There is nothing special about a crowd of secularists. It's a crowd. Is that better?

There's a big difference between a law changing that doesn't conflict with a large portion of the populations religious beliefs and one changing that doesn't. Really this case is all about what's wrong with this country in not understanding that.

No, this case is all about what's right with this country. Feel free to believe whatever you want, and let others do the same. It's that simple.
The law that allows for gay civil marriages doesn't force anybody to believe it's right, but it does allow those that feel it is right to do so. Now that is freedom!

Makes sense to me. Presenting refusal to work as a form of protest is a natural precursor to aggressive war and genocide. She has shown a fondness for big theatrical rallies, and is reputed to be a terrible artist. HuffPo says she has claimed, repeatedly, that our failure in Iraq was caused by a sinister cabal of gay bankers stabbing us in the back. Finally, I believe she is planning to annex parts of Tennessee to provide more "living space" for Kentuckians. Draw your own conclusions, dude.

You saying that it doesn't matter what you believe, you should follow the law or be put in jail. The thing is you don't really believe that, or do you. Would you give people certificates to imprison people because of some reason which you state you disagree with? How could you? If you believe that you should follow the law, no matter what you believe then you would have to issue those certificates. But I say that if you did issue those certificated that you believe that murder is ok.

You see, if Davis issued those certificates it could only be because she approved of gay marriage.
