Kid, no one is asking Kim Davis to change her beliefs. All she's being asked to do is the same thing she signed up for -- to administer the duties of her job. Those duties were subject to change from the get-go; laws change all the time. People's religious beliefs change all the time. It's to be expected that these things would be in conflict from time to time.
Kim Davis (and all government employees, whether elected or hired) is free to believe as she will, and to express that opinion. Her church is free to refuse to marry same-sex couples on the basis of its doctrine. But outside her church, in the real world, same sex civil marriages are now a thing.
Her job is to sell various licenses to various residents in accordance with these ever-changing CIVIL laws and regulations of the government. If she cannot perform or willfully refuses to perform her duties, for whatever reason, the people of her county have the right to their duly elected government function in accordance with the law. Whether by resignation, firing, or impeachment, she is out. For cause.
Kim Davis' excuse/reason for not doing her job is her born-again Christian faith. The ironic fact of the matter is that, like the government changing its laws, Davis changed her beliefs - in 2011! So why is it it OK to change what she believes, but not OK for the the government to change its rules? That's just stupid. And it's what defines Kim Davis as a hypocrite.Apolyton's Grim Reaper 2008, 2010 & 2011

The law that allows for gay civil marriages doesn't force anybody to believe it's right, but it does allow those that feel it is right to do so. Now that is freedom!Keep on Civin'

You see, if Davis issued those certificates it could only be because she approved of gay marriage.I drank beer. I like beer. I still like beer. ... Do you like beer Senator?
