When she took that job marriage was only legal between a man and a woman. Would you blame her for refusing to murder gays protesting for their right to get married? The dogmas of the quiet past, are inadequate to the stormy present. Since she refuses to adhere to her oath, the only right thing for her to do is resign. She, however, refuses to do that, insisting that her "God-given" (so she claims) right to bigotry trumps the oath she took. There isn't a single reasonable argument to be made that she is behaving ethically. Even those who share her bigotry can't deny that she is attempting to use her political office to impose her own religious beliefs on the people of her county.
I think you are misrepresenting her. She just doesn't think she should have to approve of gay marriage. She says it would harm her state if she resigned. I don't know if that's true or not. I don't have an opinion on it either.
I kind of think she should have resigned too. However, I don't equate her with Hitler for not resigning. In fact I won't agree with you that she's a bigot. You don't understand my religion.I drank beer. I like beer. I still like beer. ... Do you like beer Senator?

At any rate, how would that make any difference. They are clearly part of the crowd because they do not make ethical decisions as individuals. They do so as the crowd. The even have the law as an excuse and to hide behind.I drank beer. I like beer. I still like beer. ... Do you like beer Senator?
