Originally posted by Dr Strangelove View PostOriginally one of the reasons for the term "colored people" was for inclusiveness - it included Native Americans, Mexicans, Asians, South Asian Indians, and Arabs as well as black people. That's why facilities in the South were labeled as being for the use of "Colored People". Just in case one of those other people showed up at the restroom facilities, water fountains, or theater doors we didn't want them to embarrass us by using the wrong one. Really we're peaceful people, we don't want to call the POlice (the O is long), but we will if we have to.The dogmas of the quiet past, are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty…we will be remembered in spite of ourselves… The fiery trial through which we pass, will light us down, in honor or dishonor, to the last generation… We shall nobly save, or meanly lose, the last best hope of earth.

One of our sons told us he didn't like the "didgy" boys at school. When we asked he rolled his eyes and said the "indigenous" boys.
I'm not sure it's all racist. It seems to be human nature to group, shorten and nickname.Any views I may express here are personal and certainly do not in any way reflect the views of my employer. Tis the rising of the moon..
Look, I just don't anymore, okay?
