Everyone: The 1st prequel trailer had people stoked as well.

The "we're home" thing was kind of lame. I get it, both you and us are returning to the Falcon. The fact that you and Abrahms felt the need to actually say that is disappointing. From the looks of him are they about to entomb Han it it pharoh style?

I just read an analysis of the trailer. Have we perchance seen a whitened Gungan skull in the back of any shots yet? I want to give JJ a chance to make me a fan.

Remember, during his time in the Senate, Jar Jar proposed the motion to give Palpatine emergency powers, which was one of the steps along the way toward the Galactic Empire. This act couldn't have done the Gungan reputation any favors. The fact that we don't see any in the original trilogy means the Rebellion probably hunted down and killed all of them.

Well, I am heartened that all the characters seem to have authentically dumb names, but not as dumb as "Count Dooku." Is Dennis Lawson still alive, and have they shoehorned him in somewhere?

EDIT: Wiki says they offered him a role, but he turned it down. Okay, cautiously optimistic. Extreme nerd reverence there.

It couldn't possibly be worse than the dreck Lucas has been ****ting out since he decided he hated Star Wars enough to have a bunch of fvcking teddy bears kick Stormtrooper arse in RoTJ.

I'm cautiously optimistic. Lucas isn't doing it and Abrams did a decent job with Star Trek if you view it as Star Wars not Star Trek.

                    So maybe.

I shall wait patiently... and then probably join the salivating masses clambering for my seat in the theatre.

The mythic status of SW did go down somewhat for me after a repeat viewing of ROTJ in adulthood. Not because of the Ewoks, because Luke looks like a damn spaz when he's fighting Vader. They've got the solemn choral music going in the background, OOOOH, and it doesn't matter when the hero of the trilogy is making it abundantly clear that he was trained to fight by an actual muppet.

I wouldn't go that far, but his Star Trek was at least better than the prequels. The first one, that is; I didn't see Into Darkness.

In the late 70's there was a horrible, horrible made for TV Star Wars "movie" which featured Chewbacca going back to his home world to save it from Imperial forces. We all get to see Chewie's hairy wife and kids whom he apparently abandoned to go fly around with Han. In middle school a friend of mine had a copy of a copy of a copy of this show on VHS. I have never seen it again.

                              Despite Lucas' best efforts, even.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

                                This.

Let's be serious. The franchise peaked with Empire and has been mediocre to bad since.
