Not really. There's lot of reasons (interestingly, all bad). For example, some people tend to support policies that allow the rich and powerful to be awful people either in belief that they may have the opportunity to do it themselves or because they already are awful in their small ponds. Then there are those who are just maliciously stupid. These are the people who lost their jobs and demand that others (particularly public sector workers) lose jobs as well.

I favor policies that improve outcomes for all people, I'm not really worried about myself. Obama can pass whatever laws he likes--I'm highly skilled, highly trained and--for my age--highly experienced in a rapidly growing industry where talent is very short in supply. I'm not going to have any trouble earning lots of money no matter the regulatory environment. If I thought that liberal policies were good for the poor, I'd be for them. But they're not.
