Scott Walker On 2016: 'I Wouldn't Bet Against Me'

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) has not officially announced that he will run for president in 2016, but he is feeling very confident about his chances.

Martha Raddatz, host of ABC’s “This Week,” asked Walker on Sunday morning whether there is a 99 percent chance he’ll run.

"I don’t know that I’d take the odds," Walker responded. "I’ll just tell you one thing. After three elections for governor in four years in a state that hasn’t gone Republican since 1984 for president, I wouldn’t bet against me on anything."

A new Bloomberg/Des Moines Register poll shows Walker as the favorite among possible GOP presidential candidates. The governor was the first choice of 15 percent of respondents, just edging out Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul.

Walker said he believes he could defeat likely Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton because she represents an earlier era in Washington, D.C., politics for which most Americans are not nostalgic.

"People want new, fresh leadership with big, bold ideas, and the courage to act on it," Walker said. "And if we’re going to take on a name from the past, which is likely to be former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, I think for the party we need a name from the future."

The potential candidate answered a few questions about his platform on Sunday, saying that he opposes amnesty for undocumented immigrants and that he would be open to putting "boots on the ground," anywhere in the world.

"I think anywhere and everywhere, we have to go beyond just aggressive air strikes," he said. "We have to look at other surgical methods. And ultimately, we have to be prepared to put boots on the ground if that’s what it takes."
Hate immigrants? Love aggressive foreign wars? Time to climb on the Walker train! WOOWOO!!

I've been on the Walker train since he tore the anus of Wisconsin unions.

Also lol if you think either of those are unpopular positions. But he didn't say he loves "aggressive foreign wars;" he's saying he's not in favor of engaging in military action with preconditions designed to ensure failure.

The Hate Walker bandwagon left the station years ago, ken. You're late to the party.

Only in as much as I thought this was going to be a comment on his train wreck of an interview with Raddatz, rather than simply making up positions the man has to attack. He doesn't hate immigrants. He'd have less people pointlessly *****ing about him in the GOP if he actually did take a harder stance against illegal immigration though. His near endorsement by Rush Limbaugh should quiet a bit of that though.

Walker doesn't oppose immigration, iirc, he's too pro business for that. I'm sure there's some nuance here where he's against the way obama's doing it.

Walker is a dick. He's a liar. He's corrupt. He's a tool of his corporate sponsors; bought and paid for.

In other words, Scott Walker is a politician.

Sava, are your posts meant to be a long-running game of "spot the logical fallacy", or are you just a huge ****ing idiot?

He doesn't sincerely hate immigrants. He's just pretending to hate them because he wants to be president.

His post is a perfectly valid syllogism.

No, he has a false equivalence between the republican party and a member of the republican party.

I predict the debate will play out as follows

Sava: Any member of the Republican Party must hate immigrants because the Republicans hate immigrants and if he didn't hate immigrants he wouldn't be a member.
Me: I'm a member of the Republican Party and I don't hate immigrants
                          Sava: (invokes no true scotsman)

I'm assuming that, "The GOP hates immigrants," is shorthand for, "Members of the GOP hate immigrants," because it is plainly impossible for the GOP itself to hate anything.
