Yesterday NPR was saying that in the late 1980's to early 1990's that the standard measles vaccine e got modified and a new one was introduced. Supposedly the old one used whole (but dead) measeles bacteria and the new one only used part of the bacteria or something. Anyway, the doctor on the radio was saying that the vaccine still helps prevent measeles and if you do catch it then it wI'll be a lighter case than if you were not vaccinated but that it is not as effective as the old vaccine. So good but not great.

Not thanking this post because it's like, funny, but because this is the argument I use most often. I completely fail to understand how someone who (falsely) believe vaccines cause autism would rather their child dead than autistic. What the **** kind of mental calculus are they doing? (I know the answer, unfortunately. Anyone having children today has probably seen autistic children (or at least Parenthood) and knows what autism is all about. They've never seen anyone die of measles, though, because VACCINES TOOK CARE OF THAT. It's a hideous irony.)
