Woodrow Wilson was a racist. Nixon was a drug addict. Ronald Reagan was mentally absent for great parts of his last term. JFK was a serial womaniser.

Perhaps it would be easier if you could list the people you know for a certainty were saints or beyond any reproach.

Are you suggesting that it's somehow wrong for a sovereign country to arrest and imprison a foreign spy caught infiltrating its government?

Oh wait, that was exactly what the Cuban Five were...

Honestly, this is one of the finer examples of Head-Up-One's-Own-Ass-ism I've seen posted here.

Gross wasn't a spy. Even if he was, there's no reason to offer a normalization of relations when nothing of substance is being offered in return.

Gross wasn't the prisoner in question:

Former U.S. intelligence officer says Rolando Sarraff Trujillo helped Havana's agents in U.S. communicate with their handlers.

Are you telling me you didn't know that the swap was primarily about Sarraff Trujillo? Way to be well-informed

As for the normalization of relations, I prefer a sane view towards the matter where normalization is justified in and of itself because it is humane and sound policy, not because we need to be bribed into it.

It's a chip that I'd like to not be given away for free because Obama is bad negotiator.

Just imagine that anything I post that isn't about WW2, is probably not serious. It'll make it easier.

It's been over half a century and it was a fight where both of you were in the wrong. What exactly is it you expect to do with that 'chip' you think you have, wait another 50 years and blackmail them into handing over vital Cuban resources to you making their people suffer even more?
