Funny the way that communism only really took root in places where the poorest in society were being treated like absolute **** by the people with the power and money. An observer might just look at that and comment that perhaps the best way to stop communism in its tracks might have been to ensure that the people with all the money and power didn't horribly exploit the rest of society. Apparently though it's easier to just believe that a free market will solve all life's problems.

Incidentally, do you perhaps recall who it was that overthrew that barbaric Cambodian government?

Yeah, anyone with even the most feeble grasp on Cambodian history will realise that it was the US that cluster****ed the place to kingdom come in the first place...

Incidentally, Ken, your heroine Thatcher thought it was a cool idea to support that barbaric Cambodian government after they'd been toppled...

The UK, US and China all did. Can't have those nasty communists who had just beaten the US in a war come out looking like the good guys, can we now.

Yeah, but the Khmer Rouge weren't commies - they were the enemies of the commies so in Thatcher's eyes they were her friends.

PS, you're hilarious: you've just been bashing the US in the post previously, but now you're justifying Thatcher's actions because the US was doing it too...

First of all you don't have to be a superpower to do business in foreign countries.

Yeah, the US brings sweetness & light wherever it goes. And it goes a lot of places.

The world's policeman line was partly true for WW2, but I can't think where else. Sarajevo I guess.

More do business in the US than the US does in other countries. Cuba is just horrible, and we don't need their death sticks.
