Bet length was 2 weeks, not one.

        • I still think the 51st state thing was funnier but I admit Cruz is more topical.

And for those of you that have been whining about the "NO" party, it now looks like it was a good strategy. The repubs don't seem to have tainted by it. Now is the time to change that so we have something set our hats on in 2016 (but past experiences makes me not hold out hope). And it should be humorous as the DEMS become the NO party.
                Anti status quo is gravy.

A little sad I couldn't get you on record with how many seats they'd loose given how rock solid confident you were that they'd be punished for their actions.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

The picture was different back then. The Republicans had shot themselves in the foot so many times that it seemed unlikely they had any interest in stopping. I gambled on them continuing in the same way, but fair play to them they managed to rein in their most vocally idiotic. Now let's see whether they can do so now they're back on top, or whether pride will once again prove their undoing.

And as we were telling you then, a year is an eternity in politics.

It isn't an accident by the way that the Republicans made no major screwups or gaffes. They learned from 2012. There are a number of articles circulating about the centralization of the GOP senate leadership and donor groups in recruiting relatively moderate candidates, training them not to talk about rape or abortion, etc. and keeping on message.
