And yet Muslims treat him with much greater reverence than Christians do Christ. Every Catholic church I've ever been to has an enormous statue of Ameri-Jesus hanging in front of the congregation, but if you draw one satirical Mohamed cartoon, people try to blow you up.

You'll note you cannot see pictures of Jesus in mosques, even though he is considered to be one of the greatest prophets of Islam. It's part of the forbiddance of graven images.

      • But do (radical, violent) Muslims threaten to bomb you if you satirize Christ?

It's pointless to differentiate the idea from the idea's proponents. If you have a problem with bigotry, you're going to have a problem with bigots.

You know, there may be other factors here.
Being muslim or an immigrant in general in denmark (or elsewhere) is not easy.
You are looked down upon and racism is intricate in the social fabric (yeah yeah that's not the case... it really is).
So these people are working for the danish overlord, probably being exploited the hell out of him (no benefits, tiny wages compared to the "Regular citizens" etc
and what do they got? their faith, a common unifying aspect.
meanwhile they are seeing their religious "brothers" getting killed by the thousands from bombs abroad all over the world.

and now some facnypantsy comes and draws a sketch of mohhamed (that, rightly or wrongly is forbidden, that's theological, not an issue) and it's like you have the danish fancypansty overlord purring salt over an open wound.

I perfectly see their point of view. I don't condone it, I don't accept it but I think I understand it.

It's similar (to a much lesser extend given the different sizes of things) like when albania managed to beat the greek team. thousands of albanians flooded athens celebrating. the underdog had won the overlord. religion had little to do in that case but I think the underlining feeling was the same.

                • I'd also add that this in no way absolves the dire responsibility of radicalist imams who take advantage of that situation and fanatize impressionable and mostly young minds to increase their own standing in the 'hood, so to speak. As a rule of thumb (the one and only thing I agree with the government) is when saudi arabia offers to fully finance your new muslim temples you say "no". Same with other suspicious entities.

I think they believe it to be more of the West's problem (and why we're all depraved *******s). They feel like satirizing Muhammed is a direct insult at Muslims - like a "look what we're doing; what are you going to do about it" type of deal. When usually it isn't that at all.

                    • A moral analysis of Islam (or any religion) is counter-productive to the goal of defeating radical elements. If anything, it's going to swell their ranks by being exactly the Great Satan that radicals say we are.

So feel free to get up on your high horse, feeling superior to all those dirty mooslims. Anyone who does so is actively helping the terrorists win, frankly.

Your fervent opposition to any criticism of religion is conservative. Why are you trying to roll the rules of civil discourse back into the dark ages?

Why? Do you have any evidence to support this? Christians routinely analyze the moral implications of their faith. Why aren't Muslims capable of the same thing? Do you think they're some sort of sub-human mongrels, incapable of handling a moral analysis of their ideology? What makes your so rigidly patronizing of Muslims?

                              • What you said was that we're not allowed to rationally discuss Islam because Muslims can't handle rational discussion. You're a patronizing bigot.
