Take a nice, deep breath, Kid. Then, a long, slowwwww exhale. That's it.
Now, read this: It represents two distinct and very real possibilities:
1. The letter shown in the OP video is legit and real. I totally believe this is possible. If so, end of story.
2. The letter was created by the AVFM or their allies as a fundraising tool to pay for required (but unplanned) security at the conference. Having seen the borderline fraudulent donation appeals I have personally received from both mainstream and fringe fundraisers, this is also a distinct possibility. I didn't call it fraud; you leapt to a false conclusion and accused me of something I didn't actually say.
Now, some perspective for you: I have, in my professional career, organized a fair number of conferences, meetings, parties, and concerts at major hotels. I have encountered requests for extra security and/or extra insurance on several occasions. Often enough so that it became part of my planning process, because budgets were involved. For an organization like yours, I would suggest a similar outlook, since an in-your-face attitude with public and online confrontations seem to be routine.
Like it or not, your conference has been flagged as high risk, and the reasons are unimportant. The hotel has its reputation, its other guests, and its staff to consider. And it's not just danger they are concerned with. If guests are uncomfortable, they tend not to come back, and that costs them business long-term. The extra security and insurance are what it takes for the facility to be willing to accept the risks and costs associated with your event. It's just business.
AVFM has raised the needed funds; good for you! Enjoy your conference. I really do hope it goes smoothly.
