Read what I wrote again. Gender is a meaningful term regardless of its political uses. It is plainly true that we believe different things about men than we do about women, and that not everything we believe is dependent on biological differences.

Sex is mostly static. Again, there are some edge cases where an infant will come out of the womb with both sets of reproductive organs and doctors will essentially choose what sex the infant is going to have.

Probably DanSing you: As far as what you really mean, though: No, an adult with a definite sex can't really change their sex. The reason I still call people by the pronoun they prefer, however, is that I choose to use pronouns as a label of gender identity rather than biological sex.
